Kathleen Marie James, age 72, of Marthasville, Missouri passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 in Marthasville, Missouri. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 19, 1945 to Lawrence and Maxine Kavanagh (nee Anslyn).

Kathleen was a Cost Analyst for 54 years with the Department of Defense.

Kathy known to most as Nana, was a strong and intelligent woman who always tried to make everyone feel special and loved. While raising her daughters she attended Lindenwood University , earning a Master's degree. She went on to work for and retire from the U.S Army Aviation Missile Command. Despite her career that required travel and a temporary relocation to Tennessee, she always made time for her family. She loved being a grandma and watching her grandkids grow up. In 2013 she gained the title of Great-Grandma and even though that time was short she made the most out of it and Noah and Marren loved their Nana. There is no doubt Kathy left everyone with lots of memories and stories to cherish and tell for years to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings,Ida Smith, Lawrence Kavanagh, Jr., James Kavanagh and Anthony Kavanagh.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Angela Tournbaugh; grandchildren, April (Adam) Gerner, Shelby (Kyle Phipps) Tournbaugh, Austin Tournbaugh, Cody (Brooke Schrader) Leesmann; great-grandchildren, Noah Gerner and Marren Gerner; life long friend, Pete Harness; brothers, William (Donna) Kavanagh, Michael (Margaret) Kavanagh and Patrick Kavanagh; sister-in-law, Tina Kavanagh and a host of other family members and friends.
