Ernest Carranza, Jr., age 85, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in St. Peters, Missouri. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 28, 1931, a son of Ernest and Maria Carranza. Mr. Carranza was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the US Army. Some of Ernest's favorite pastimes were playing cards, and watching and following the St. Louis Cardinals.

Ernest retired March 1, 1991, as a Freight Handler for Anheuser Busch after 23 years of service. He was married to Patricia (Besch) Carranza, who preceded him in death November 19, 2005.

Ernest is survived by his Daughter, Sharon M (Arthur) Olive of Affton, MO, and Two Sons, Ernest (Gretchen) Caranza, III of Dardenne Prairie, MO, and Michael J (Rhonda) Carranza of Saint Peters, MO; along with 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.

In addition to his wife, parents, and a Grandson, he was preceded in death by his Sister Ophelia Watts, and three brothers, John Soto, Henry Soto and Pelayo "Pep" Carranza.

A funeral service for Ernest Carranza, Jr. will be 10:00 am Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will be at 12:30 pm Tuesday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eric Carranza, Aaron Carranza, Austin Carranza, Martin Watts, Valerie Hollowell and Tom Brinker. Honorary Pallbearers will be April Beck, Samantha Carranza and Joe Morris.
