We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Jerry. Jerry was my "Uncle" in so many words. He was my Godfather. In 1978, Rick and Sue Strutman asked Jerry and Judy Patton to be my Godparents .He gladly took the job. Through out my life we met up with each other. The last time we saw each was 10 years at the funeral of Judy. My heart is truly broken over his passing. If any of his family wouldn't mind reaching out to me, that would be a great blessing. Much love. Renée Rigano. ?

Just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about Jerry's passing. We were both from the 1973 class at Rosary and we both attended UMSL. Later on in life we both became members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. Every time I saw Jerry, he was always glad to see me and he had that big smile on his face. He was a class act and a solid family guy. We will miss him at our 50th reunion but I will make sure he is not forgotten. Prayers to his family, such a big loss, Jerry was the best!

Any time Jack & I bumped into JERRY at a work function, it was going to be a great occasion. It would usually wind up being the biggest circle (and the loudest) in the crowd. JERRY was always so funny & accommodating when he saw you. Everyone felt like his best friend. What a great man. Our hearts break for Debbie & their family. RIP, Jerry

Our deepest sympathies for the entire family. Jerry was a kind and caring man with a genuine smile for all who knew him. It was obvious that the pride he felt for his family was the most important part of his life. Find comfort knowing you will all be eternally reunited.

Deb- I don’t know if you will remember me, but Jerry used to come in to our salon years ago and was a client for quite some time.
I have to say that he was one of Cary and mine’s favorite guests. He was always so happy, pleasant, nice, and personable. He always took time to say hi to Cary and I when he was in for a haircut. I am heartbroken for you and your family.
We lost Cary in April and I am just devastated to know that you, your children and their families are experiencing a loss of your Jerry. My heart goes out to all of you and I send you prayers, hugs, and love. Heaven just gained a true angel. God bless you all.

Three quick personal stories I would like to share about Jerry. Great memories, all of them.
Jerry knew I was a lifelong avid Cardinal fan. In the summer of 2015 I must have mentioned to Jerry at some point that I had never been to Opening Day. Wouldn’t you know it… he remembered this, and the next season he invited my wife and me to join Debbie and him for Cardinal Opening Day. He knew this was a bucket list item for me. That’s Jerry. Always giving. We all had a great afternoon. Cards 10, Brewers 1. Score didn’t matter… it was the thought, the experience, and hanging with friends that mattered.
Another Jerry classic. After living in STL area for 22 years, my wife and I moved to Dallas in 2014 to be close to kids and grandkids. My kids threw a surprise retirement party for me in October 2019 which was incredible, and about a half hour into it the doorbell rings and I answer it, and you guessed it, it was Jerry standing there with a big ole smile. I was floored. But so honored and so happy he came. It was not easy as he had to come from a business trip in CA and change some things in order to get to Dallas for the party. Amazing. Amazing effort. Amazing surprise. Amazing friend. Again, that’s Jerry. Just who he is.
Next story might be the best Jerry story. Jerry and I had a meeting scheduled with a customer one mid-morning a few years ago – or so we thought we did. After waiting in the lobby for well over an hour, we saw the buyer walking through the lobby and out the front door. Jerry was able to get her attention, and she apologized but did not show a scheduled appointment with us. Jerry knew I flew in and how personally important the meeting was. The buyer told Jerry she was heading to a retail store about 10-15 minutes away. Jerry asked if he could drive and suggested she and I sit in the back seat and I could make my presentation to her there, as we traveled down the road. Well, that was a first. But due to Jerry’s quick thinking, creativity, and improvisation, mission was accomplished. Jerry said at the time he had seen a lot of things in the business, but never a back seat sale. We chuckled about that for years.
Rest in peace, my friend.

Dear Brennan Family,
Jerry was a special kind of good. He was one of those people that anyone would feel comfortable with the moment they met him. His kind and loving ways were always part of who he was. I loved his laugh and his endearing smile. Our hearts are breaking for those loved ones he leaves behind. He will live on in their hearts and memories.
I pray that God will comfort all of you as you grieve for him. We know that he is now resting peacefully in the arms of the angels.
God bless all of you!

To Debbie and the entire Brennan Family,
My sincere condolences to all of you on the sudden loss of Jerry. I never had the opportunity to meet him but after seeing the beautiful online tribute to him, I felt compelled to tell you that you are all in my prayers. The memories that are evident in this tribute broke my heart as you all appeared to enjoy all of what like can offer, together as a family. I am a Rosary alumni of 1982. I'm sure that his fellow classmates share your grief. God bless you as you face the days ahead.
Debbie, I will hold you close in prayer. You've given so much of yourself to the Seton Regional School family. My grown children are better people for having had you as their teacher.

Just devastating news. The biggest kick in the gut ever. Words cannot describe what Jerry meant to SO many people. A tremendous loss for friends and family. He knew SO many people in STL and also around the country. I feel truly blessed to have worked with and been friends with Jerry for the past 15 years. I love Jerry. He had so many great stories. He loved talking about his family… his kids and grandkids and trips to see them. When we met for business, he ALWAYS asked about my family and how everyone was doing. Every business meeting we ever had was very enjoyable… talking family first, and then a little business. Business is important, but nothing is more important than family. Jerry had his priorities straight.
One of the best business people I have ever met. Smart, knowledgeable, gregarious, caring, and so incredibly giving. Jerry had an immense and unparalleled marketing and sales acumen, and was always so willing to share it if asked. He always had/made time for you. When the company I worked for hired any new marketing folks, I would always ask Jerry if he would mind spending a little time on the phone with them, so he could educate them about how the “real world” works. He was not only willing, but very excited at the chance to help – every time. On multiple occasions, Jerry spent the better part of a full day with these individuals, instead of 30 minutes on the phone which in itself would have been very giving. In addition, he would work with them in person, knowing the best way to teach/mentor is hands on… in the office, and very importantly in the retail stores. Jerry was the most generous person I have ever met.
Jerry was truly an amazing person, on so many levels. One of a kind. Great family man. So selfless and so generous. Can’t imagine a better role model. I am certain Jerry’s many friends felt his love and feel very blessed to have had him in their lives – I know I sure do. Jerry’s family has been the biggest benefactor of the type of person he is. And boy did he ever love his wonderful family.
~ Dick Buxton - January 5, 2021
I had the pleasure of working with Jerry several years ago when the organization I worked for launched into retail for the first time. More than 5 years later we ran into each other and it was as if no time had passed at all. He was a friend, a mentor and a true professional that this world will truly miss. My thoughts to the family during this incredibly difficult time. For those wonderful grandchildren keep sharing the stories and Jerry will always be there for each of them. Sincerely Cheryl Verbiski (Canada)

Debbie and Kids,
After reading through all the messages left by those who knew Jerry, it was pretty obvious that he was loved for his kindness, his loyalty to family, friends, business relationships....basically everyone he met. I knew 30 years ago when I first met Jerry in a business relationship he was going to be someone I would remain friends with forever. Although we had not seen each other for quite a few years, I always enjoyed our phone conversations several times each year. I will miss those calls!
A couple of quick memories:
1. On a business trip to Hawaii, the airlines lost Cindi's and my luggage and wasn't going to be there until later in the day...Jerry loaned me one of his swimsuits....that is very personal friendship.
2. Jerry and his family always treated me like family...as he did all people...while visiting one time for work at their house, Jerry told me to just come in through the garage and come on down to the offices in the basement...right through the laundry room with stacks of clothes and the kitchen with half eaten breakfast on the counter. Jerry just treated me like family not a business associate. Loved him for that....
3. In 2001, Cindi and I lost our 15 year old son to cancer....there were over 600 people at his memorial service...almost all family and friends...very few business associates. But in the middle of all those people was my friend Jerry Brennan....he drove 4 hours from St. Louis to Kansas City, spent 10 minutes with us to let us us know his sorrow for us and then turned around and drove 4 hours back to St. Louis...that is who this man was....and by the way...Thanks!
May God Bless your family and you will continue to be in our prayers...

I am so sorry for your loss. Jerry was one of the most positive, happy people I knew. He always had a smile on his face, and was willing to help.
I knew him from the St. Louis Food Industry on 2 levels. He was a broker for our company and did an exceptional job for us.
He was also involved in St. Louis Area Food Association as President and then later helped with SAFA. He was always a great supporter.
He knew everyone in the industry and people always had positive things to say about him.
After reading about his family life, there is no doubt that contributed to his positive outlook on life.
I'm sure he will be missed. People like him are not forgotten.
Many prayers to your family!

We are so very sorry for your tragic loss. COVID has taken far too many wonderful people, and so many who we thought still had a long life ahead. We have lived in Woodfield (Willow Trail) since 1996, and although we didn't know Jerry well, we enjoyed small conversations with him while walking our dog around the neighborhood. We appreciate his service to the HOA Board and the many close friendships he and Debbie have in the neighborhood. May you find some comfort knowing so many are keeping you close at heart at this time.

Debbie and Family.... I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Jerry thru Sharon Bine. What great stories she had to tell that involved him. I included Jerry in my prayers for healing, but the Lord heard my prayers and knew it was time to call him home. I will continue to pray for your family for peace and strength. Focus on good memories because I know you have many.

I'll always remember Jerry with his warm smile and caring attitude. His love and devotion for his family was evident and he talked of them often. My thoughts and prayers are with Jerry's family at this sad time. May he rest in peace.

Debbie and family,
Our condolences from the entire John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. company (Fisher recipe nuts, Fisher snack nuts, Orchard Valley Harvest and Hunter Mix snack mixes and Squirrel brand) . We are extremely sadden to hear of Jerry's passing. Jerry and his team have been our trusted business partners in the greater St. Louis market representing our brands. We are fortunate to have had Jerry as our business partner the past 10 years. On a personal note, I always found Jerry to be a pleasure to work with. He always took our business relationship personally. He would always make himself available when I came to town for an appointment with Schnuck's or Dierbergs. He would travel to Anaheim, CA for the Natural Foods trade show and spend quality time with us to discuss our business strategy. He's passion and commitment was always evident. We will miss Jerry very much. He will always be remembered as a first class, professional who was dedicated to his customers. We will miss you dearly Jerry!

Dear Brennan Family,
Our hearts are broken and though we grieve your tremendous loss, we rejoice in the certain eternal hope in Christ Jesus. (I agree with one of the other messages, he's probably making Jesus laugh right now, or at least doing some yard work for him in heaven!) You can't think of Jerry without smiling! You never left his presence without a smile on your face! He knew no strangers. Anyone walking by would receive a friendly greeting or soon be laughing at a funny story. His love for his family was such a testament and inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful video. Tears and smiles all the way through! What tremendous blessings you share and what a legacy of love and joy he has given. He is one of those special people who will leave a tremendous hole in our hearts with his absence. We are still trying to wrap our heads and hearts around all that transpired. We, too, feel blessed just having known him and your family as neighbors. Our love, support, and prayers will be with you all. We pray you feel the loving presence of the Lord uplifting and sustaining you now and the coming weeks, months ahead. We love you all!

Sending my heartfelt sympathy to my dear friend Debbie, her children, and the entire Brennan family. Jerry remains forever young in my memories because we knew each other in college. I remember when he and Debbie started dating, and I knew that he was "the one" for her, with his quick smile and contagious sense of humor. It is obvious from the photographs of his life that Jerry went on to be a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was blessed with a beautiful family. The time that his family had with him seems to have been filled with happiness. I am honored to have known him, if only for a few early years in his life. He made Debbie happy, and that is what is important to me. Sending my love to all of you, especially Debbie. You are always in my heart.

Dear Debbie,
We just heard the news about Jerry and am absolutely heartbroken for you and your family. I immediately started thinking about how I met Jerry so many years ago at SLARC camp and how he introduced me to Ken. How fortunate to be able to count him as our friend. No matter the years that have transpired, getting together with you and Jerry was as if the years had never occurred. We will never forget his crazy sense of humor, especially his storytelling abilities - he was amazing at taking a simple everyday occurrence and turning it into a one-of-a-kind experience. I'm sure everyone will agree that Jerry was the friendliest and kindest person to everyone he met. No one was a stranger around Jerry, and his ability to make you feel as though you were the only who mattered to him was exemplary. Please know that we will be thinking about you and your kids and grandkids in the coming days and weeks, and look forward to a time when we can extend our condolences in person with you. Jerry will be greatly missed!!!

Dear Debbie, Stefanie, Melissa, Jennifer and Matt,
My heart goes out to you for the loss of your incredible husband and father. To say that Jerry was loved by so many people is an understatement. He lit up any room that he walked in, and within minutes he had people captivated by whatever story he told. One of the things that I loved about Jerry was the way that he made you feel like you were the most important person in the room... because whether he met you a few minutes before, or whether you were lifelong friends, he cared about you. He was easily one of the kindest people I have ever known, and I will miss him with all of my heart.
Sending love and prayers to you today and always,
Emily

His laughter was infectious and Jerry brought a smile to everyone. The world was a better place because he was a part of it and he will be greatly missed.
Love,
Jim and Sue Byrne

Debbie and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Jerry was a good friend and more importantly a wonderful man. I know he is with God as a testament of his strong faith. I consider myself one of the fortunate ones to know him for many years. My God comfort you.
God Bless!

Dear Debbie, Stephanie, Melissa, Jennifer, and Matt,
My heart goes out to you today and in the days to come, and I send you great big hugs. Your husband and father is one of those special gifts to the rest of us. He always had a hand to lend in support, a smile to let you know he genuinely cared, and a great story to fill your heart with warmth and laughter. I have so many memories of him commemorating my Dad at golf tournaments — always showing up with donuts, coffee, prizes, and SPIRIT; showing up unannounced at Thanksgiving or Christmas as a hallmark of days gone by with the entire Brennan/ Murphy clan; and, of course, lighting up the whole room when I was young and we all aspired to be Jerry and Debbie! I know your grief is heavy today and in the days to come, and, in my father’s favorite words, “may God hold you in the palm of His Hands”. Look for the “signs” as I know he will remind you of his love... we find license plates with DGB, butterflies that linger a little longer, “Don” brand on a butter knife in Sanibel - our family vacation spot... When the feeling of loss subsides a bit, these signs will be there to comfort and remind you he is there with all the love in his heart. Wishing you peace and sending all the love in my heart, Laura Kloos (née Brennan)

On this first day of 2021 I thought that the worst was of 2020 was over and things would be much brighter in the New Year. Then, this evening, I received a call from a mutual friend telling me of Jerry's passing. That just knocked the wind out of me. Jerry and I were friends from High School; thru college; then, while geographically we were not close, when we did get together over the last 40 years, it was like we were next-door neighbors. Nothing had changed in our friendship. Jerry was one of my very best friends; and, whenever we saw each other we would be smiling and laughing - literally within seconds.
Ellen and I want to extend our most sincere condolences to Debbie, Jerry's children, and all his Grandchildren, brothers and sisters. I know Jerry loved you all like crazy and was so proud of you all. We will miss him.
