Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations and Funerals in St. Peters, followed by the funeral. Graveside service will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter at act.alz.org .
Norman was born in Schenectady, New York on September 21, 1936 to George and Estelle Tomasek Lowell. He married Barbara Otis on November 17, 1956 in Dover, New Hampshire. She proceeded him in death on October 18, 2014. He cherished her dearly.
Surviving are his children Keith (Debra) Lowell of Ellsworth, Illinois; Karen (Phillip) Thompson of Chandler, Arizona; Kim Edgecomb of St. Peters, Missouri; and Kevin (Sharla) Lowell of Harrison Township, Michigan. Also surviving are his grandchildren Brandon (Leslie) Lowell, Tara Lowell, Cristen Carpenter, Austen Thompson, Chad Edgecomb, Chandler Edgecomb, Charles (Addi) Lowell, and John (Mandi) Lowell and great-grandchildren August , Aria, Everly, Tucker, and Jesse Lowell. Norman will be dearly missed by a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Norman was an instructor in the United States Air Force for 20 years, and worked as a flight instructor after his retirement from the military.
Norman was a Knights of Columbus member. He loved fishing and camping. In retirement, he and Barbara enjoyed their mini-farm with 3 miniature horses. He liked to travel on road trips to see the sites of the United States, especially the national monuments. It was a 20 year family tradition to attend the Illinois State Fair. His children and his grandchildren hold those memories dear. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his four children an eight grandchildren.
