Joseph was married to Melba Haney (nee Strain) for 64 cherished years and loved spending time with his family. He loved to garden, grow tomatoes, and work in the yard. He was known for his love of eating desserts.
Joseph spent much time studying the Bible and traveling to different church meetings and camps throughout the year. He was inspired to write spiritual songs that glorified God. He was also the organist or the pianist for most church meetings.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Melba Haney, sons Stephen (Darlene), Richard, and David (Tammy), Granddaughter, Lisa, and Grandson James (Madeleine), Grandson, Joseph, Grandson, Nicholas, and he will be missed by a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Haney, mother Alta Mae Haney, four sisters, Angela Canada, Frances Kenyon, Ilet Smith, and Ruth Anderson, and brother David Haney. Joseph was the last surviving sibling.

Visitation will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations and Funerals, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St. Peters, MO 63376.
An additional visitation will be held at 9:00am followed by the funeral service at 10:00am Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Lighthouse Church, 8759 Veterans Memorial Pkwy, O'Fallon, MO 63366.
Interment at Schmidt Cemetery in Sullivan, MO on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 11:00am.
