Virginia May Petschonek, age 96, of Ellisville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 in Creve Coeur, Missouri. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 13, 1926 to Leo and Loretta Toomey (nee Devaney).

Virginia is survived by her children, Bob (Amy) Petschonek, Bill (Carol) Petschonek, and Dianne (Bill) Bennett; grandchildren, Zachary (Corrie) Petschonek, Sarah Petschonek, Shane (Jackee) Petschonek, Bethany Petschonek, Michael Bennett, Scott Petschonek, Sean Bennett, and Patrick Bennett; great-grandchildren, Amelia Petschonek, Melanie Petschonek, Ryker Petschonek, Levi Petschonek, and Lorraine Petschonek; and sister, Loretto Holtmann. Also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Petschonek; parents Leo and Loretta Toomey; and brothers, Leo J. Toomey, Jr., James Gerard Toomey, and John Joseph Toomey.

Virginia "Ginny" Petschonek began a new page of her story when she was at last reunited with the love of her life, Robert. The rest of us remember the way she continues to evoke feelings of love and warmth from those who were blessed to have known her. Her sense of humor was one-of-a-kind and could often be delightfully unexpected. Ginny's eyes were a mesmerizing shade of arctic blue that resembled a cloudless sky. She adored her family immensely and was always up for an adventure. Reading and musicals were also things she found joy in.

Her favorite song was "Begin the Beguine."
"Till the stars that were there before
return above you,
Till you whisper to me once more,
'Darling, I love you!
And suddenly we know what Heaven we're
in."

As Ginny and Bob hold hands again above the stars, "may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
