Colleen (Cody) Claire Watkins (nee Adams) passed away June 14, 2020 at her residence with family members around her after a short battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was born January 14, 1946 in Battle Creek, Iowa to Francis (Frank) (1919-1985) and V. Burdette Adams (nee Malcom) (1919-1997). She was raised on farms near Danbury, Mapleton, Charter Oak and Dow City, Iowa before moving to Dow City and then Arion, Iowa where she attended Dow City High School graduating in 1964.

Cody married Darrell Watkins Jr. August 1, 1964 and from this union two daughters were born.

She worked as an operating room assistant from 1965 until 1968. The family moved to Lincoln, Neb. in 1970 while Darrell was in graduate school, She babysat for others to help with expenses. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1973 while Darrell did a Post Doctorial. Cody returned to the operating room from 1974 until 1976 when they moved to Creve Coeur Mo. and then to Maryland Heights, Mo. where they have resided since 1977.

Cody enjoyed volleyball, bowling, knitting and crocheting as hobbies. When she was younger she enjoyed traveling and camping. She also babysat grandchildren which she enjoyed immensely.

Cody was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry Adams and sister Diane Conrad. She is survived by her husband Darrell of Maryland Heights Mo., daughters Kristine (Mark) Immekus of St. Charles Mo., Cynthia Simon (friend Joel), of St. Louis Mo., grandchildren Shane (Lindsy) Gast of St. Peters Mo., Shawn Gast of O'Fallon Mo., Cody Sullivan (fiance Destiny) of St Peters Mo., Samantha (friend Austin) Immekus of St. Charles Mo., Brendan Simon of O'Fallon Mo., Mackenzie Simon of Maryland Heights Mo., great-grandchildren Finley and Penelope Gast of St. Peters Mo., sisters Jody (Neal) Scott of Omaha Neb., Doris (Dave) Brich of Dunlap Ia., brothers-in-law Rick Conrad of Sioux City Ia., and Merrill Watkins of Omaha Neb., and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376 (636-875-1200). A funeral service will be at 10:00 am Monday, June 22, 2020 at Newcomer. Interment follow at St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
