Marita Phipps Marlett, age 88, of Wentzville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Wentzville, Missouri. She was born in Randolph County, Arkansas on January 22, 1932 to Rayburn and Etta King (nee Waldron).

Marita grew up during the depression years in Northern Arkansas. As a young adult, she met and married her first husband, Thomas Phipps. Together they had and raised three children, Ron, Linda, and Kathy. While raising her family, she worked as a bank teller at Saint John's Bank & Trust. Thomas passed away in April of 1995. She then retired in 1995. She continued to travel and enjoy retirement. Marita reconnected with a childhood friend, Joseph Marlett "Jake", at a class reunion. They married in 2001 and enjoyed 18 years of happiness, until his passing in 2019. Marita never went anywhere without meeting someone she knew or drawing in someone she didn't know. She was known to be a shining star, and the rock of our family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rayburn and Etta King; her first husband, Thomas Phipps; her second husband, Joseph Marlett; her brother, Thomas King and her step son Steff Emmett Marlett.

Marita is survived by her children, Ron Phipps, Linda Bonifield (Paul), Kathy DeShaney (Don), step children; Leisa Barnhart (Wesley) and Joseph E. Marlett, II (Lisa) and her grandchildren, Todd, Cory, Adam, Lance, Amanda, Jessica, Jason, Madeline, Kyle, Josh, Kristen, Delina, Paul, and Michelle; her 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, Charles King (Sondra) and her sister-In-Law, Donna King. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a service to follow at 7:00 pm, both on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376 (636-875-1200). Interment will be private.

In accordance with CDC guidelines, face coverings and social distancing is required at all funeral events.

Memorial contribution may be made in Marita's name to the American Cancer Society 4215 Lindell Blvd., Saint Louis, MO, 63108
