Anita Sue Krebs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Chesterfield, Missouri, at the age of 87. Born on December 20, 1938, in Portageville, Missouri, she was a light in the lives of many who had the fortune to know her.
Sue married the love of her life, Tommy "Tom" Krebs, in 1959 and together they built a family filled with love and lasting memories.
Though Sue's journey through life was complicated by severe health issues that required seven spinal surgeries and fifteen additional surgeries, the last one on January 31, 2026, she found joy in a good TV show, reading recipes, and playing Yahtzee, Rummikub, and Sequence. Many people might have given up but Sue fought to stay with her family and recovered again and again, at times even surprising her doctors.
As a proud graduate of Portageville High School, Sue worked as a Magistrate Clerk and Tax Collector Clerk for New Madrid County both before and after her marriage. Tom's career moves sent them to Benton, Webb City, Jefferson City, and eventually Fenton, Missouri for 18 years.
Sue enjoyed her time as a Salesperson at Boyd's Department Store in Crestwood, Missouri, and as an Avon Salesperson. But perhaps her most cherished title was that of a homemaker, where she created a warm and loving environment for her family.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Tom, and their three children: Susan Renee (Bob) Constantin, Tim (Gloria) Krebs, and Janna Krebs. Her legacy also continues through her grandchildren, Samantha and Alex Constantin, who brought her immense joy.
Sue's sibling and extended family held a special place in her heart; she shared treasured moments with her brother Donald (Marie) Phillips, and brother-in-law Randy (Ronda) Krebs, as well as sisters-in-law Alice Phillips Janes, Barbara Krebs, Donna (Robert) Hulsof, Judy Taylor (Pete), Luella Hatley Williford, and Mary Krebs. Each niece and nephew will fondly remember the warmth and love from their Aunt Sue, including those we lost too soon, Bill Phillips Jr., Payton Hatley, and Michael Krebs.
Even as she mourned the loss of her beloved mother, Lillian Beauton Phillips (Pikey), her dear father, William E.R. Phillips, and her brothers Bill and Ron Phillips, she embraced life with grace. Her resolve shone brightly, reminding those around her of the enduring power of love and family.
Sue was a loving confidante, and a source of strength who was always ready to listen and give some advice. Her philanthropic spirit touched many organizations, especially those that fed the hungry and helped those in need of medical assistance.
Friends and family are invited to gather in her honor at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri. Visitation will take place on February 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a service celebrating her life at 12:00 PM, concluding with a graveside service at St. Charles Memorial Gardens at 1:00 PM.
Anita Sue Krebs will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered. The many beautiful moments she created and the love she shared will be treasured by all who knew her.
