Audrey M. Metzger

October 27, 1926 — July 20, 2025

O'Fallon, Missouri

Audrey M. Metzger, affectionately known by her family as Nonie, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on July 20, 2025. Born on October 27, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri, Audrey lived a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories that will forever be cherished.

Her journey began at Beaumont High School in St. Louis, where she developed a spirit of kindness and loyalty that defined her personality. Audrey demonstrated this spirit throughout her career, initially working at Bussmann Fuse during the war before making memorable contributions at Specialty Awning. Yet her greatest achievements unfolded within the walls of her home, where she embraced her role as a devoted mother.

In 1949, she married the late Ernest "Ernie" Metzger. She raised four beloved daughters, Linda (Mark) Harsy, Nancy (JP) Hinson, Janis Saylor, and the late Gayle (John) Scarborough, instilling in them the same values of kindness, reliability, and support that Audrey embodied. Audrey took immense pride in her family, finding joy in being a mother, grandmother to 12 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 11 great-grandchildren. Her family was not just her pride; they were her everything.

Audrey was known for her warm-hearted nature. She had an innate ability to make everyone who crossed her path feel special and cherished. Her sense of humor brought lightness to every gathering, and her steadfast love was felt profoundly by all who knew her. She loved babies and was always excited to welcome new life into the family. Her love for sports, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals, led her to camp out and cheer passionately for her team during the World Series. A dedicated fan, she also enjoyed watching sports on TV and relished moments spent with her favorite Game Show Network programs and episodes of Judge Judy.

She will be deeply missed not just by her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren but also by her nieces and nephews who admired her strength. Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Ernest. She also now reunites with her parents, Henry and Anna Schuler, her dear daughter Gayle (John) Scarborough, her beloved sisters, Sophie (Elmer) Baught, Millie (Edward) Quinn, Leona (Earl) Langhorst, Marie (Edward) Miller, and Delores (Orville) Kottmann, as well as her brothers, George (Thelma) Schuler and Clarence (Willene) Schuler, and cherished nieces and nephews.

Audrey M. Metzger leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, warmth, and affection. Her family will gather to celebrate her remarkable life at visitation on July 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, MO. The funeral service will be held the following day, July 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM, culminating in a graveside service at Valhalla Cemetery at 11:30 AM. Though she may no longer walk among us, Audrey's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
