Barbara A. Stewart (née Albers), a devoted educator, accomplished quilter, and cherished member of her community, passed away on May 7, 2026. Born on October 30, 1948, in St. Louis City, Missouri, Barbara dedicated her life to service, education, and family.

Barbara pursued her passion for education with determination and excellence, earning her Master's Degree in Education from Webster University. She devoted 30 years of her professional career to teaching within the Hazelwood School District, where she left a profound impact on countless students before retiring. Her commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a love of learning was a hallmark of her professional life.

Outside the classroom, Barbara was known for her generosity and warmth. She took great pleasure in creating special memories for her loved ones, especially during the holidays, where she made each celebration unique by surprising family and friends with her exquisite homemade quilts, delighting them with joyful scavenger hunts for her nieces and nephews to find these treasures. As an accomplished quilter, her artistry and dedication were evident in every stitch.

Barbara’s love extended deeply to her family, particularly her nieces and nephews, whom she adored and showered with affection. She was a steadfast and loving presence, always there for those she cared about, providing support and serving as a role model. Her devotion to family was a cornerstone of her life.

Her personal interests were diverse and passionate. Barbara was an active member of her church, where she sang in the choir and contributed generously through teaching and assisting with Vacation Bible School. Alongside her husband, Marvin Stewart, she was also involved in the Astronomical Society, reflecting a lively curiosity and appreciation for the wonders of the universe. Additionally, she collected angel figurines, a hobby that reflected her gentle spirit.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Stewart; Marvin’s sons, Christopher (Lauri) Randell and Robert Stewart; two grandchildren, Tim (Brianna) Randell and Kelly Randell; and three great-grandchildren, Piper, Olivia, and Amelia. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Albers, his late wife Janet; three nieces, Denise (Tim) Board, Debbie Haferkamp, and Darlene (Galen) Hayes; as well as her nephew, Duane (Stacey) Albers, along with numerous other family members and friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Fredericke Caroline Albers and George F. Albers.

Barbara A. Stewart’s legacy is one of steadfast love, dedication to education, and unwavering support to all who knew her. Her life enriched her family, her students, and her community, leaving behind memories that will be treasured by many.
