Billy Jack Hopkins, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s disease and passed away on May 26, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on April 8, 1947, Billy lived a life defined by his unwavering generosity, kind spirit, and commitment to his family and community.
Billy's career showcased his mechanical skills and business acumen. He began his professional journey as an auto mechanic and service writer at Sears, where his dedication to customer service and expertise garnered him the respect of his colleagues and clients alike. He then transitioned to become a product representative at Johnson Controls. Eventually, he embraced entrepreneurship, becoming self-employed and building a legacy of craftsmanship at Lake of the Ozarks. There, he not only built and remodeled homes but also managed rental properties.
A proud graduate of Ritenour High School, class of 1965, Billy possessed a personality that drew people to him. His friends and family knew him to be friendly, kind, and remarkably generous. No matter the time of day, he was always willing to lend a hand, offering his skills and wisdom for anything from large projects to small tasks. His ability to connect with people and share quiet wisdom made him a treasured figure in the lives of many.
In every moment he could, Billy cherished time spent with family and friends. He found joy in playing cards and enjoyed the serenity of fishing. Above all, he delighted in the love and laughter of his family, particularly relishing moments with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Veronica "Ronnie" Hopkins; his children, Robert Martin (Paula) Hopkins and Matthew Thomas (Denise) Hopkins; and three stepchildren, Leslie (Timothy) Todd, Jonathan (Lesley) Slade, and Don Love Jr. He also leaves behind a legacy of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Bobby Eugene (Marsha) Hopkins, Joan Lavella Miller (Joseph Manaska), and Dorothy Verlene Attey. He is remembered fondly by a host of other family members and friends whose lives he touched throughout his journey.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, David "Gene" Hopkins; mother, Minnie G. Hopkins; and siblings, David Lee Hopkins, John Andy Hopkins, Sr., Don Edgar Hopkins, Steven Allan Hopkins, and Willie Paul Hopkins.

His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he inspired and loved.
