Listen to Obituary

Carl Eugene Barker, 81, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on August 21, 2025, while vacationing in Osijek, Croatia.

Carl was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose wisdom, humor, and deep love for his family touched the lives of all who knew him. Born on March 1, 1944, in St. Louis, he was the son of Clarence and Rubal Barker. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Boyt.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patsy Marie Oliver Barker; their son, Matthew C. Barker, and his wife, Heather; and his brother, Charles Barker, and his wife, Sara.

After serving four years in the United States Air Force, Carl began his professional career with Philco Ford in Thailand. It was there that Patsy joined him, and the two were married in Udon, Thailand, in 1968. Upon returning to the U.S., Carl earned his degree in electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He went on to enjoy a long and distinguished 35-year career with Indeeco, where his skill, dedication, and ingenuity earned him three patents.

Carl was a man of quiet strength and steadfast faith. A devoted Christian, he studied God’s Word daily and, alongside Patsy, was a member of The Fellowship of Wildwood Baptist Church. He lived his life with humility, integrity, and deep gratitude for his family. Carl found joy in traveling, reading, and spending time with those he loved. Though he was a man of few words, his presence carried meaning and purpose, and his love will remain a guiding light for his family.

A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, West County Chapel, on Wednesday, September 10 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Following the services in St. Louis, Carl will be taken to Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas for funeral services and burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Dry Creek Cemetery, 31 Lawrence 318, Strawberry, AR 72469.
