Carole Stroessner, a woman whose heart was as wide open as her front door, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on December 11, 1941, Carole made her own quiet, beautiful history in the lives of everyone lucky enough to know her.
She worked for Schnucks Market for 25+ years where she eventually retired, however, her true passion was the rare and wonderful gift for nurturing children - whether they were her own or someone else's, every child who came into her care left feeling seen, safe, and cherished. For the many families she served, Carole was a steady presence and a warm hug waiting at the door, giving parents peace of mind and children a place where they always felt at home.
She is survived by her three daughters, Robin (Steve) Norwood, Vicki (the late Bill) Murphy, and Dawn (Rick) Stratmann, brother, Glennon Vette; Five grandsons; Bill (Rhonda) Stroessner, Michael (Allie) Norwood, Andrew (Jenna) Murphy, Richard Stratmann III, and Brennan Murphy, granddaughter, Haley Stratmann, great-granddaughters; Miah Stroessner and Elsie Murphy, three great-grandsons; Logan Norwood, Carter Murphy, and Charlie Murphy; and a host of other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ronald Stroessner; sister, Beverly Sweeney, and parents, Bernice and Louis Vette.
Carole's legacy isn't measured in grand gestures - it's measure in the countless children she rocked to sleep, the little hands she held, and the hearts she shaped without ever seeking credit for it. She gave her best to others every single day, and the world is gentler for having had her in it.
