Carolyn Deal, 87, passed away on October 28, 2026.
Born on May 8, 1939, Carolyn lived a life marked by faith, devotion to family, and a sharing of her many gifts. She took seminary classes and was strong in her faith throughout her life. Active in her church, she taught Sunday School, played the piano in church, and she also played for a Gospel Quartet. Music remained a meaningful part of her life to the very end; even while living in assisted living, she kept her piano nearby and played for caregivers and fellow residents.
Carolyn was also a skilled seamstress who lovingly made clothes for her children when they were young. She gave piano lessons and shared her talents in ways that enriched the lives of others. At home, she took pride in organizing her household and keeping things running smoothly. She was an avid reader and was known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Deal; her daughters, Lauren (Todd) Bush, and Carla (Steve) Fine. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Austin Fine, Evan (Rylie) Fine, and Allison (Drew) Schaeffer, as well as her great-grandchildren, Emma Fine and Harper Fine. Carolyn is also survived by her sister, Sarah Shipp, whose husband Charlie preceded her in death; her sister-in-law, Charlotte Northcutt; and a host of other family members and friends who will remember her with love.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Franklin Northcutt; her mother, Pauline Elizabeth Northcutt; her sisters, Joyce Smith and Linda King; and her brother, Don Northcutt.
Carolyn will be remembered for her steady faith, her musical gifts, her care for her family, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her life was one of service, love, and quiet strength, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
