Carolyn Ann Raphael (Kelly), 84, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away on June 1, 2026.
Born February 26, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, Carolyn lived a life defined by devotion to her faith, her family, and the many people and animals she cared for with her whole heart.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Carolyn was preceded in death by the love of her life–Lawrence A. Raphael. Carolyn and Larry shared a deep and enduring bond. Their partnership was one of loyalty, warmth, and unwavering support.
Carolyn was a caring sister to Stanley Miller (Joyce), a wonderful mother to her three children — Tracy Raphael-Wichern (Steve), Mary Alexander (Bill), and Shawn — each of whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. As well, she was also a proud and loving grandmother to Bryce, Jarrett, Joseph, Carly, and Savannah, all of whom brought her endless joy.
A devoted Catholic, Carolyn lived her faith through kindness, compassion, and service. She was known for her gentle heart, her generosity, and her willingness to do anything for anyone. She cherished her friends and family deeply, nurturing relationships which lasted a lifetime.
Carolyn found great pleasure and joy in her love of gardening and yard work. She tended to her flowers, plants, and trees with care and dedication, right up to her final days. Her yard was a reflection of her spirit — vibrant, welcoming, and full of life.
In her younger years, Carolyn loved to host parties and holiday celebrations. Bringing family and friends together with warmth, laughter, and a sense of belonging brought her great joy. She created memories for others which will be treasured for generations.
She also had a special love for animals, especially cats and dogs. She rescued many throughout her life, offering them the same warmth and safety she gave to everyone she loved.
Those who knew Carolyn will remember her as extremely kind, selfless, and endlessly giving. Her legacy is one of love —a love she gave freely, a love she received abundantly, and a love which will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
