Charles E. Sykes

Charles E. Sykes, age 88, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024. He was born in Granite City, Illinois on October 11, 1935, to Charles and Alma Sykes (nee Rushing). 

Charles was a professional wallpaper hanger for over 40 years. For many years he owned and operated his own company, Sykes Wallcovering Company. He was a proud member of Painters Local 1199. Charles enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, working in the yard, and building anything from his lake house to a gazebo and pond in his backyard.  

Charles is survived by his daughters, Brenda Lee Wiltse and Kathy Ann (Joe) Napoli; his son, Charles Eugene (Gail) Sykes Jr.; his grandchildren, Nicci (Josh) Shy, Charles Brandon Sykes, Jared Sykes, Matthew (Erin) McCreary, Amanda (Mike Watkins) Wiltse, Alexandra (Nicholas) O'Leary, Allisyn (Garrett) Thele, Abbigail Napoli, and Clayton Napoli; and many great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan I. Sykes; his granddaughter, Brittni Sykes; his son-in-law, Doc Wiltse; his father, Charles F. Sykes; his mother, Alma J. Baldwin.
