Charles H. Wardenburg passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on November 27, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, Charles dedicated over 40 years of his life to the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 3 in St. Louis, where he was known for his exemplary work ethic.

Throughout his life, Charlie exemplified a personality that many admired. He was remembered as a funny, loving, and kind individual who served as a strong role model for his family. He took great pride in his role as a loving husband and a devoted father, and he was especially proud to be a great PawPaw to his grandchildren. His commitment to family values and hard work was a testament to the legacy he created for future generations.

Charlie had a variety of interests that brought joy to his life. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved immersing himself in old western films and old “white and black” shows. Most importantly, he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, attending their events, and being an active participant in their lives. Great Granddaughter, Peyton, brought a smile to his face during every visit

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Wardenburg; daughters, Karla (Frank) Manley and Keri Wardenburg; son, Carl (Melanie) Wardenburg; three grandchildren, Alec (Hannah) Wardenburg, Wesley Wardenburg, and Dylan Wardenburg; two great-grandchildren, Peyton Wardenburg and Baby Wardenburg (Due April 2026); and a brother, Tom (Rose) Wardenburg. Additionally, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Dennis Luy, alongside a host of other family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Walter Wardenburg; mother, Clara Wardenburg; and sister, Alice Luy.

A visitation will be held on October 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Preschool, located at 8945 Veterans Memorial Pkwy, O'Fallon, MO 63366.
