Christopher F. Rootz, fondly known as “Chris,” passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on July 26, 2026. Born on June 9, 1964, in St. Louis, Missouri, Chris’s life was a remarkable testament to dedication, kindness, and unyielding devotion to those he loved.

From an early age, Chris’s character shone through—thoughtful, understanding, loving, and driven, he would do anything for anybody. These traits remained with him throughout his years, shaping every relationship he forged and every endeavor he undertook.

Chris cherished his hometown roots in St. Louis and carried the spirit of the Midwest with him through all chapters of his journey. He served his country honorably as a Motor Transport Operator in the United States Army, exemplifying reliability and duty to others.

Chris’s heart found its home in Lisa. Their 39-year marriage was his proudest accomplishment—a partnership built on laughter, steadfast loyalty, and an unwavering belief in the strength of family. Together, they raised two sons, Mike and Daniel, who were the pride and joy of his world. The many family memories created through simple enjoyments—playing cards, camping trips, lively evenings at the casino, or quiet nights at home—are cherished legacies, woven into the fabric of the Rootz family and all who knew him.

Professionally, Chris poured his passion and hard work into running his own family business, leading with integrity and care. His commitment to his community extended further as a dedicated member of the team working with the special school district, forever striving to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Those who knew Chris remember the uniqueness of his spirit—his genuine willingness to help, his thoughtful conversation, the quiet strength he showed in challenging times, and the boundless love he shared with family and friends alike.

Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Rootz; his sons, Mike Rootz and Daniel Rootz; and his siblings, Barb (Wally) Bozcek, Fred Rootz, Raymond (Darlene) Rootz, Rick (Kathy) Rootz, Margaret (John) Schmid, and Don (Kim) Rootz. His sisters-in-law, Cindy Givens and Karen Pokorny, along with many other extended family members and friends, mourn the passing of a man whose kindness touched so many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Raymond Rootz, with whom he now shares eternal peace.

Family, friends, and all whose lives Chris touched are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of his life. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, St. Peters, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St Peters, MO 63376. The following morning, loved ones will meet at Newcomer Funeral Home for a procession to Jefferson Barracks for military honors. The graveside service will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, MO 63125, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.
