Daniel Joseph O’Keefe Fortified with the Sacraments of Immaculate Conception Church of Dardenne (ICD) Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Beloved husband of 63 years to the late Mildred Ann “Millie” O’Keefe (nee Ikemeyer); dearest father of Timothy (Chrissy) O'Keefe, Sharon (Dan) Biermann, John (Jen) O'Keefe, and Jennifer (Brian) Emerson; loving grandfather of Joe (Theresa) O'Keefe, Josh O'Keefe, Matt Biermann, Mike Biermann, Julianne Biermann, Emily O'Keefe, Kyle O'Keefe, Maddie Emerson, Brayden Emerson; great grandfather of Caylen Biermann; son of the late Daniel O’Keefe & Celeste (the late Frank) Gambino; brother of the late Robert (the late Betty) O’Keefe, the late Jerry (Helen) O’Keefe, the late Mary (the late Virgil) Walls, the late Joan O’Keefe, the late Sharon O’Keefe; the late brother-in-law Earl (the late Joan) Ikemeyer, sister-in-law Sharon (Bill) Cozort, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Dan was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Korean War conflict. After his service, he served as a barber by trade. He worked as a Barber for over 40 years; first in Pine Lawn (Dan O’Keefe Barber Shop), then in North St. Louis County (Harold Torbeck’s Barber Shop), and then, even in retirement, he continued to help cut hair when he visited Ron “the singing barber” in Florissant. Dan gave all his grandchildren an honorary first haircut. Dan’s gift as a barber was his ability to make each and every customer less of a stranger and more of a friend. His stories of invitations to have a beer at the tavern next store solidifies the connections he made with the guys in his chair. His work was important and touched more lives just by balancing curiosity with kindness, investing in the people in his chair.
Dan cherished his walks throughout the years. Countless miles. All of the beauty he got to take in. Taking many steps with Millie and friends, and meeting more along the way. He loved to feel the sun. Dan enjoyed a good barbeque. Basking in the sun, beer in hand, taking pleasure in the simple things. His beer o’clock beer will forever be cherished and cheered. Dan will be remembered as a genuine pillar of gentleness and kindness. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Knowing all that his family was involved in gave him a great sense of pride and joy.
