Darlene Porter

Darlene Porter, born June 1, 1930, passed away on September 8, 2026.

Darlene will be remembered as a devoted mother and a caring presence in the lives of many. She was a caretaker to those around her, offering love, support, and steady kindness. She enjoyed bingo, trips to the casino, and going on cruises, and she especially loved the ocean. Above all, she loved her family, who remained at the center of her life.

She is survived by her children, James Porter and his wife, Phyllis; Denise Sexauer and her husband, Rick; Debra Porter and Catherine Meyers; Susan Kennedy and her husband, Ty; and Lisa Lewis. She also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, whose lives stand as part of her enduring legacy. Darlene is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Edelen; her sister, Jeanne Ellis; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends. She was cherished deeply and was, to her family, the best mother in the world.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manley “Dude” Porter; her father, Wendel William Edelen; her mother, Ida Elizabeth Edelen; her son, Ronald Douglas Porter; and her brothers, William Edelen, David Edelen, John Edelen, and Dennis Edelen and his wife, Joyce.

Darlene’s life was marked by love for her family, enjoyment of simple pleasures, and generosity of spirit. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
