David Lee Miller, age 82, passed away on December 10, 2025 after a hard fought, 8-year battle with colon cancer. He was born on August 29, 1943 in Rushville, Illinois to Lloyd Edward Miller and Doris LeIsle Miller nee Lambert.
David graduated from Beardstown High School with the Class of 1961. He attended University of Missouri in Rolla, Missouri before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1966 where he honorably served with Naval Air and aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga Aircraft Carrier.
David married Carol Lynne Venz on July 11, 1970 in Beardstown, Illinois at St. John's Lutheran Church. David and Carol moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he was employed in the engineering field until 1978. When they relocated back to Beardstown David opened a photography studio. David, affectionately known as, "Picture Man," operated studios in Beardstown and Petersburg, Illinois for 40 years before retiring and moving to Saint Charles, Missouri to be closer to family and to continue teaching photography classes.
In addition to his love for cameras, he enjoyed bicycle riding with the, "Early morning bicycle group," as well as motorcycle trips with his good friend, Brian DeLoche. Above all else, David loved watching his grandsons participate in their sports and taking photo trips out West with his wife.
David is survived by the love of his life Carol Miller, children; Sara Miller of St. Peters, Missouri and Sean (Megan) Miller of Glendale, Missouri, brother, Daniel (Beth) Miller of Beardstown, Illinois, grandsons; Jackson, Liam, and Collin as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and his favorite fur-ball son, Bradley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and LeIsle Miller.
Cremation rites were accorded with services being held at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, 907 Jungermann Rd, St Peters, MO 63376 on January 10, 2026; visitation will take place from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made out to Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church or Five Acres Animal Shelter.
