Della Whitehead

Della Whitehead, born on October 13, 1937, passed away on April 16, 2026. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, and friend who found joy in spending time with her loved ones throughout her life.

Della’s early years included a fondness for boating, an activity she enjoyed deeply. She and her husband Jim Whitehead shared a cherished annual tradition of visiting the casino together—an event they both looked forward to each year. In addition to these pastimes, Della took pleasure in playing bingo and card games with her friends, highlighting her sociable nature.

Her family was the center of her life. Della is survived by her daughter, Debbie (The late Pete) Carlson, and her son, Ken Whitehead, who is married to Tammie. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Matt Orlando, married to Brenna; Danielle Espey, married to Matt; and Brandon Whitehead. Two great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Audrey, also survive her, along with numerous other family members and friends. Della was Auntie to eight nieces and nephews, further reflecting the extensive family ties she maintained.

Della was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace J. Hermann and Esther Hermann; her husband, Jim Whitehead; her daughter, Kim White; and her brother, George Hermann.

A visitation to honor Della’s life is scheduled for April 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, postal code 63376.

Della Whitehead’s life was marked by the strong bonds she nurtured with family and friends, alongside the simple pleasures she enjoyed throughout her years. Her memory will be carried forward by those who knew her well.
