Dennis Gene Gearhart

Dennis Gene Gearhart, age 69, of O'Fallon, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 31, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, Dennis lived a life rich with laughter, love, and devotion to his family.

Dennis dedicated his professional life to the food service industry, where he thrived in various roles over the years. His career in food service management reflected his strong commitment and passionate work ethic, traits that were evident throughout his adult life.

Described as a prankster with a carefree spirit, Dennis embraced life with a unique sense of humor. He brought joy and laughter to those around him, often using his clever wit to make even the toughest days brighter. His family fondly remembers how he could make them laugh, creating cherished memories they will hold in their hearts forever. Dennis was a devoted family man who fiercely protected his loved ones. His daughter recalls, with a smile, how he would entertain her by writing hidden messages on the outside of her baby son's diaper for her to find.

Dennis was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, cherishing his role within his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Gearhart; his daughter, Melissa (Christopher) Crossen; his son, Dennis Christopher Gearhart; his grandchildren, Megan (Alex) Lyons, Alex Crossen, Jessica Crossen, Shelby Higgins, Jarod Higgins, and Victoria Allen-Gearhart; and his great-grandchildren, Louis Lyons, Daphne Crossen, Jack Lyons, and Thomas Lyons. He also leaves behind his brother, James (Melody) Gearhart.

Among those who predeceased him are his beloved daughter, Denise Lynn Gearhart; his father, Robert F. Gearhart; his mother, Helen A. Gearhart; and brothers, Robert (Susan) Gearhart and Michael Gearhart.

Dennis held a variety of interests beyond his professional life. He was an avid motorcycle rider, enjoyed working on RC cars and Pinewood Derby cars, and found joy in constructing model airplanes, boats, and trains. These hobbies were a testament to his creativity and desire to embrace life’s adventures.

He is remembered not only for his laughter but also for the protective mantle he draped over his family, ensuring they felt safe and valued. Dennis Gene Gearhart leaves behind a legacy of love and the memories of countless joyful moments shared with those he held dear.

A visitation and funeral service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri. The visitation will begin at 4:00 PM and the funeral service will commence at 7:00 PM. His family welcomes all who knew and loved Dennis to celebrate his life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dennis' honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
