SEIBEL, Dennis Lee, born January 18, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026, at the age of 73. Beloved father of Brooke Baker and Lauren (Nicholas) Payne; loving grandfather of Bailey and Logan Baker, and Macie and Lincoln Payne; devoted partner of Yvonne Schmitt; cherished father figure to Nicole and K.C. Schmitt; dear son of Jean Seibel and the late Paul James. Dennis was lovingly raised by Don Seibel, who became the father he knew and loved. He was the dear brother of Donna (Brian) Ringwald and the late Willie Seibel; former husband of Georgia (Thompson) Seibel; and a beloved uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and friend.
Dennis was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Jean Seibel and the late Paul James, who passed away when Dennis was an infant. He was later adopted and lovingly raised by Don Seibel in Overland, Missouri. As the oldest of three children, Dennis shared a close bond with his sister, Donna, and his brother, Willie.
Dennis graduated from Ritenour High School in 1971 and went on to attend the University of Missouri–Rolla, where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering in 1975. During college, he was a proud member of Kappa Alpha and participated in ROTC. After graduation, Dennis briefly worked in Houston before returning to St. Louis in 1977 to begin a long and distinguished career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As Chief of Construction for USACE, he built a respected legacy through his leadership, expertise, and unwavering dedication to public service. Over the years, he earned his Professional Engineering Certification and played influential roles in monitoring the Great Flood of 1993, supporting recovery efforts following Hurricane Andrew, and contributing significantly to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ response to Hurricane Katrina.
Dennis was married to Georgia Thompson for 26 years, and together they raised two daughters, Brooke and Lauren, who were truly his world. Later in life, Dennis found love and companionship with Yvonne Schmitt. Through their 25 years together, he became a steady, loving presence to Nicole and K.C..
Dennis treasured time with Yvonne, his children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed softball, fishing, and hunting, golfing and especially loved sharing those passions with his brother Willie and many lifelong friends. He will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, generosity, and the love he gave so freely to his family. His legacy lives on not only in what he built professionally, but in the countless lives he strengthened personally. He will be dearly missed.
