Dennis Timothy Shearn

October 25, 1957 — June 9, 2025

Chesterfield, Missouri

Dennis Timothy Shearn, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend, left this world on June 9, 2025, at the age of 67, in Chesterfield, Missouri. Born on October 25, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, Dennis was a beacon of energy and joy whose life was marked by his dedication to his family, his work, and his community.

For 38 years, Dennis owned and operated Shearn Landscaping, where he combined his agribusiness education from Southeast Missouri State with his love for the outdoors. His landscaping designs brought beauty to countless homes—but more importantly, his heart touched all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dennis's energetic personality and infectious enthusiasm made every conversation feel like a reunion with an old friend, no matter how much time had passed. He often entertained his family and friends with little adages that will stay with them throughout their lives.

Dennis was not only a skilled landscaper but also a phenomenal cook. He had a passion for raising chickens and a deep love for all animals, especially his cherished Golden Retrievers. He enjoyed boating and traveling, with memorable trips to Destin, Florida, where he indulged in days filled with sunrises and sunsets. He was never one to back down from an adventure.

His love for family was evident in everything he did. Dennis cherished his marriage to his beloved wife, Patty, with whom he shared 36 beautiful years. Together, they celebrated the milestones of their children—Tim (fiancée Karah Galmiche), Mary Beth, Matt, and Andrew—attending every event and activity with unwavering support. His pride extended to his grandson, Oliver Hardesty, who brought endless joy and laughter into his life.

In his community, Dennis made a lasting impact. He proudly became the honorary mayor of the dog park in Chesterfield—a testament to his love for his Golden Retrievers and the strong bond he shared with fellow dog lovers. He also volunteered with Stray Rescue of St. Louis, where he joyfully walked and cared for dogs. Additionally, Dennis proudly sponsored the Ivan family through the Unbound program, which supports families in poverty around the world.

Dennis embodied resilience, demonstrated through his courageous battle with mantle cell Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He showed remarkable strength, returning straight to work after chemotherapy appointments—a true testament to his spirit and determination.

A man of deep faith, Dennis was known to carry a rosary in his pocket and often visited the little church at Ascension Parish. He found comfort in the presence of cardinals, believing they were loved ones visiting from beyond and symbols of new beginnings. This quiet connection extended to other birds as well, with hummingbirds especially capturing his admiration.

He leaves behind his siblings, Joan (the late Jerry) Montgomery and Chris (Janet) Shearn, who will forever hold memories of his kindness and adventurous spirit close to their hearts.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, George and Sarah Shearn, and his sister, Eileen Peters. Their legacy of love will continue to shine through the lives he touched and the memories they shared.

As we remember Dennis, we grieve the loss of a vibrant soul who brought laughter and warmth to countless lives. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends—stirring us to hold each moment close, to step boldly into the unknown, and to celebrate the gift of life with wonder and gratitude.
