Dominic “Mickey” Licavoli passed away peacefully surrounded by the family he held so closely to his heart. Mickey lived a full and vibrant life centered around love, laughter, music, tradition, and the people he cherished most.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann “Nedi” Licavoli, who passed away in April 2018. Throughout their marriage Mickey would tell the family, “I give her my best 15 minutes every day, I don't know what else she could want.” Mickey devoted himself to caring for Nedi throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s, remaining faithfully by her side until the very end — a reflection of the deep love and commitment they shared.
Mickey was the proud father of two daughters, Mary Ann (Ralph) Thomason-Shaw and Michele (Rick) Trautman, who lovingly cared for him and remained by his side until the very end. He was a devoted grandfather to Laura, Dan (Katie), Jen, Kim (Thomas), and Ashley (Austin), and a loving great-grandfather to Luke, Emmett, Madilyn, Theodore, Edison, Avery, Andrew, and Kendall.
Family meant everything to Mickey. Some of the greatest joys of his life came from spending time together — whether on family vacations, at holiday celebrations, backyard BBQs, or gathered around the table sharing stories and laughter. He created memories that his family will carry with them forever. One of his proudest joys was watching his grandchildren grow up, build families of their own, and follow their dreams and passions in life. He loved seeing the lives they created and was endlessly proud of each and every one of them.
Mickey took tremendous pride in his home and especially his yard. Everyone knew better than to step carelessly through it, or they would “never hear the end of it.” His sense of humor and playful personality brought joy to everyone around him. He loved teasing people, making them laugh, and never met a stranger.
Known affectionately for his lifelong love of Mickey Mouse — born the same year as him in 1928 — Mickey collected anything and everything Mickey-related. During Christmastime, one could always find him baking cookies, enjoying the season, and filling the house with warmth and music. At the store, family members could always locate him by listening for the chorus of animated toys he had inevitably set off all at once.
Mickey proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and his family treasured listening to the stories and memories he shared from his time in service.
Music was another great love in Mickey’s life. Through his Columbia House Music membership and endless collection of songs, he passed down his love of music to his family. There was always music playing wherever Mickey was, and he continued enjoying it right up until his passing.
When he wasn’t at home, Mickey could usually be found at the Rec Center swimming or wandering the aisles of the local grocery store. He also loved sports and enjoyed sharing stories about playing soccer in his younger years. Nothing made him prouder than seeing his great-grandchildren active in sports and following their own passions.
Above all else, Mickey loved his family deeply and unconditionally. He reminded each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how proud he was of them every chance he got. His love, stories, traditions, humor, and presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
