Donald Aaron Bancroft, Sr., fondly known as Don, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on February 10, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on September 1, 1936, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Don's journey through life was marked by a deep commitment to family, a robust work ethic, and a spirited personality that brought joy and laughter to those around him.

Don dedicated many years of his life to his career, beginning with MacDonnell Aircraft and continuing with MacDonnell Douglass, which eventually became Boeing, where he retired in 2001. He took great pride in his work and was a proud member of Machinist District #837 (IAM). His colleagues respected him not only for his skills but also for his intelligence and sense of humor.

In his youth, Don was a well-rounded athlete; he began boxing in high school and later continued through his service in the Marine Corps Reserves. His passion for sports extended beyond athletics, as he found joy in being an avid bowler and card player. He often delighted in watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the St Louis Blues, teams he faithfully supported, and had a particular fondness for western movies.

A source of strength and inspiration, Don was widely recognized for his engaging personality traits. He was funny, sarcastic, witty, and had a penchant for banter that endeared him to many. He was not only intelligent but also a caring and generous individual deeply invested in making his wife and family happy. His loving nature provided comfort and support, especially to those he cherished most.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara Bancroft, and his loving children, Donald (Lorie) Bancroft, Jr., Marti Klutho, Susan (Joe) Campbell, and Michael (Jennifer) Bancroft. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his life.

He leaves behind cherished memories of family, particularly his special bond with his beloved dog, Molly. Their companionship represented a beautiful connection that brought Don genuine happiness throughout his life.

Though Don is predeceased by his grandson, Jadan Taylor Manion, as well as his parents, Daisy "Micky" and Aaron "Andy" Bancroft, and his siblings, JoAnn Hill, Barbara Marie Ellis, and Richard Bancroft, his legacy continues on through the love and memories shared with those left behind.

A visitation, memorial service, and gathering will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, where family and friends can come together to celebrate the remarkable life of Donald Aaron Bancroft, Sr. Don’s spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.
