Donald Francis Dempski, a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on May 14, 1931, Don lived a life rich with love for his family and a devotion to his passions.
Don was a proud Master Sergeant (E7) in the Air Force, a service that reflected his commitment to his country. He was passionate about many pursuits, chief among them was his profound love for his family. He took immense joy in attending sports events for his children and grandchildren, cheering them on and creating lasting memories.
Don dedicated 12 years attending night school to earn his college degree, while supporting his wife, Elaine raise their seven children.
A lifelong fan of the St. Louis Browns and the St. Louis Cardinals. Don took advantage of an opportunity to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals. A passionate photographer, he found great joy in capturing moments and celebrating life’s small victories. His interests extended to collecting various items and playing his steel guitar, a hobby that brought him solace and happiness. A true car enthusiast, he lovingly showcased his prized possession, a 1931 Model A, which was a testament to his appreciation for classic craftsmanship. He could often be found savoring the delights of Ted Drews Frozen Custard, reminding those around him to enjoy the sweeter things in life.
Don is survived by his two daughters, Barb (Jeff) Mackey and Vicky (Paul) McLaughlin; three sons, Don (Susan) Dempski, Bill (Nancy) Dempski, and Tom (Pam) Dempski; along with daughter-in-law, Janet Dempski. He leaves behind a legacy through his sixteen grandchildren: Jessica, Julie, Lisa, Jake, Jenna, Angela, Christopher, Shaina, Lauren, Kyle, Erika, Brett, Austin, Matthew, Adam, and Luke. Along with his twenty-five great-grandchildren. The warmth of his spirit will be felt throughout the family for generations to come.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Dempski; his son, Bob Dempski; his daughter, Cynthia Dempski; and his grandchild, Christy. He was also preceded by his father, Frank Dempski, and mother, Stella Dempski. Don’s life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the cherished connections he made along the way.
Visitation services will be held on October 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, MO. A graveside service will follow on October 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery & Mausoleum in St. Louis, MO.
