Donald T. Westerbur, affectionately known as “Skip,” passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on February 11, 1939, in Luverne, Minnesota, to Theodore Westerbur, Jr. and Dorothy Cecelia Marie Westerbur.

Don’s life was grounded in his faith, which guided the way he treated others. He was also known for his quick wit and understated sense of humor.

Don’s career as a gate agent spanned several airlines, including Ozark Airlines, TWA, and finally American Airlines. His dedication to his work was evident throughout his years in the aviation industry and left a lasting impression on many who were fortunate enough to know him.

He cherished time spent fishing, woodworking and found joy listening to St. Louis Cardinals games. His love of music showed in his ability to play the accordion and harmonica. He especially appreciated the peace found in soft, familiar tunes.

Don and Jan shared many memorable adventures traveling together. Among his proudest accomplishments was his 67-year marriage to his true love, Janet, whom he affectionately called his sweetie. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their love, faith, and lifelong devotion to one another.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Westerbur; son, Ted (Teresa) Westerbur; two daughters, Cindy (Dennis) Reinhart and Marcy (Jim) Witte; eight grandchildren: Erica Reinhart, Megan (Mike) Hennessy, Amanda (Tony) Lahood, Rebecca (Travis) Paro, Travis (fiancée, Wendi) Westerbur, Julia (Joseph) Elliott, Austin (Courtney) Witte, and Brenden (Katelyn) Witte; as well as 17 great-grandchildren, with twin great-grandsons on the way. He also leaves behind his brother, Marty (Dixie) Westerbur; and sister, Kathy (Harlan) Pulse-Olson; along with a host of other family members and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Westerbur, Jr.; mother, Dorothy Cecelia Marie Westerbur; sister, Carol Gorder; and brother, Terry Westerbur.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri.
