Doris Irene Brophy

August 15, 1943 — July 12, 2025

Wentzville, Missouri

Doris Irene Brophy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Wentzville, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 15, 1943, in Granite City, Illinois, she dedicated her life to both her family and her career, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Doris spent her professional life as a secretary, retiring from Boeing Aircraft. Alongside her career, she nurtured her love for crafting, delighting in making handcrafted dolls and creating gorgeous wreaths and other holiday crafts that would bring joy to those around her. Her passion for creativity extended into her garden, where she spent many joyful hours tending to her beloved flower beds, finding peace and solace in the beauty of nature. She also enjoyed watching the variety of native birds her garden attracted.

Beyond her hobbies, Doris was a spirited participant in her community, serving as a Girl Scout leader and a Den Mother for her son's Boy Scout troop. Her vibrant personality and dedication to nurturing young lives were especially evident in her role as a clown with the Knights of Columbus clown group and the Trinity Clown Club—where her fun-loving personality could shine and laughter was cherished.

Doris was not one to seek the spotlight for herself; instead, she always put the needs of others before her own. Her selflessness and warmth were virtues that defined her character, and it was through her laughter, which often brought her to tears, that she illuminated the hearts of her family and friends. She was immensely proud of her two sons—Michael (Kimberly) Brophy III, Mark (Jennifer) Brophy, and her grandchildren, Cody (Ashley) Brophy, Austin (Giulia) Brophy, Brianna Brophy, and Oliver Brophy—as well as her great-grandchildren, Braxton and Liam Brophy. These relationships brought her the utmost joy and fulfillment, serving as the foundation of her life.

Doris is survived by her loving husband, Michael Brophy, Jr., and an extended family who will carry her memory forward: her nephews, Bradley Michaelis and Brent Solomon, and her niece, Nicole Solomon-McCullough. She joins her beloved parents, Clyde and Vivian Moore, and sisters, Luann (Richard) Michaelis and Beverly (Albert) Solomon, in eternal rest.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will continue to resonate within the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a memorial service beginning at 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, we will remember the countless ways she brought happiness to our lives and the joy she found in our shared moments. Doris Irene Brophy will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the memories we hold close.
