Doris Russell, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend left this world on October 22, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on July 3, 1948, in Hunnewell Missouri, she carried the warmth of her childhood into her later years, embodying kindness and joy throughout her life.
Her charm extended to everyone she met, and those fortunate enough to know Doris will remember her not only for her loving spirit but also for the many passions that defined her vibrant life. Doris found tremendous joy in cooking, often filling her home with the tantalizing aromas of her delicious meals. She had a special affinity for Tweetie Bird, Elvis Presley, and Bruno Mars, whose songs provided the soundtrack to countless cherished moments. An enthusiastic sports fan, Doris eagerly followed all the games, bringing an infectious energy to every gathering. In quieter moments, she enjoyed the art of crochet, creating beautiful pieces that showcased her creativity and skill.
Doris is remembered not only for her zest for life but also for the cherished family she nurtured. She is survived by her two adoring daughters, Lisa Kantz and Dawn Roellig, who carry forward her legacy of love and commitment. Her grandchildren, Alexander (Shannon Callanan) Kantz and Nicole (Thomas Finn) Roellig, were the apples of her eye, and she took great pride in their achievements and adventures. Doris also leaves behind her beloved brother, John (Dena) Mayes, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss her warm presence at family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert Russell, whose memory remains forever engraved in the hearts of those who loved them both. She is also reunited in peace with her parents, Guy and Dorothy Mayes, and brothers James and Delbert Mayes, as well as many loving aunts and uncles who embraced her in their eternal family bond.
A visitation in Doris's honor will take place on October 28, 2024, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, St. Peters (837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St Peters, MO 63376).
Doris Russell's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, an everlasting testament to a life filled with laughter, love, and a passion for the simple joys.
