Dorothea Jane Murphy (née Scott), lovingly known as “Dot,” passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 21, 2026, in St Charles, Missouri. Born on October 21, 1929, in St Louis, Missouri, Dorothea lived nearly ninety-seven years of a life filled with a bold and unforgettable presence felt by everyone who knew her.
Dorothea’s legacy is carried on by her four children: son Kenneth Paul (Donna) Murphy, Jr., and daughters Ann E. (Jim) Chervek, Margaret E. (Tim) Schaible, and Jill S. (Mike) Lombardo. Her family was the light of her life, and she cherished every moment shared together. Dorothea’s influence continues through her ten grandchildren: Nicole Murphy, Seth Murphy (Christine), Tricia Erpelding (Jerry), Laura Govero (Ashley), Nathan Lombardo (Alicia), Megan Schaible (Tina), Alex Schaible, and Ean Lombardo (Kassie), as well as Nathan Chervek and Amy Rhoads. She also was blessed with ten great-grandchildren—Gabe (Miranda), Ayden, Ellie, Logan, Joe, Abby, Reagan, Zach, Thomas James, and Simon—and one great-great-grandson, Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth "Murph" Murphy, her parents, Walter and Gladys Scott, as well as her beloved sisters, Betty, Ginny, and Pat. Dorothea’s enduring spirit and strength will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation to be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, St. Peters, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St Peters, MO 63376. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, also at Newcomer Funeral Home. The family will then proceed for a graveside service at 1:30 PM at Ste. Philippine Cemetery & Mausoleum, 4057 Towers Rd, St Charles, MO 63304.
Dorothea Jane Murphy will be remembered for the immense love she had for watching nature and wildlife from the porch of their country home. She was an avid gardener who loved her plants and flowers. Sewing, embroidery, and reading were some of her favorite pastimes in her earlier years. She spent many hours enjoying classic movies and keeping up with current events on the TV. Her memory lives on through generations, and her presence will be missed.
