Dorothy May Stevenson, born on February 7, 1930, a beloved matriarch of her family, passed away on February 17, 2026. Her warm spirit and nurturing heart left an undeniable impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Dorothy was known for her loving nature and cherished spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. Her home served as the gathering place for every holiday and family event, reflecting her commitment to family bonds and her role as a central pillar in their lives. She had a passion for cooking and baking, often filling her kitchen with the delightful aromas of freshly baked cookies and hearty meals, which she generously shared with her loved ones.
A sports enthusiast, Dorothy found joy in watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball and supported the Kansas City Chiefs, embodying the spirit of a true fan through her cheers and unwavering loyalty.
She is survived by her children, Rick (Kathy) Stevenson, Sharon (Doug) Pummill, Patricia (the late Bill) Yore, Nancy (Chuck) Ashley, Carol (Tony) Funderburg, and Art (Angie) Stevenson; along with 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends who will remember her fondly.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Stevenson; her father, Henry Benne; her mother, Gertrude Benne; her daughter, Rita Albers; and her brother, Paul (Delores) Benne.
Her legacy of love and togetherness will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on February 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, St. Peters, followed by a graveside service at Sacred Heart Cemetery of Florissant at 1:00 PM.
