Edward Louis Billo, fondly known as Ed, passed away peacefully in his home in St Peters, Missouri, on July 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 15, 1947, in St Louis, Missouri, Ed's 79 years were marked by a spirit of warmth, humor, and unwavering love for those around him.
Ed had an indescribable ability to bring joy into every room he entered. Calm and sweet, always ready with a quick joke, he filled each conversation with laughter. His tough and resilient spirit was tempered by an endearing gentleness, making it nearly impossible not to love him. With a heart that radiated kindness, he strove for perfection in everything he did, taking immense pride in his work and always doing a good job. It was this steadfast dedication that shaped the man his family and friends cherished.
A man of many passions, Ed was an avid reader, a lover of good food, and someone who found joy in cooking for those he loved. Sharing meals and smiles became some of his greatest pleasures. But above all else, it was seeing the happiness on his loved ones’ faces that made his days complete.
Through life’s many journeys, Ed was most proud of his 35-year marriage with his beloved wife Sandra, a partnership built on mutual respect and deep-rooted love. Together, they built a family filled with laughter, support, and unwavering affection—an accomplishment that brought Ed tremendous pride.
He is survived by his treasured wife Sandra Billo, his loving children Cristie Lunsford, Michael Billo, David Billo and his wife Angela, and Crystal Herring. Ed’s influence and gentle humor live on in his grandchildren: Justin Harmon, Jacob Taylor, Zachary Belfield, Lilly Belfield, LeAnn Herring, and Leighton Herring. His great-grandchildren, Levi and Louise, were constant reminders of the enduring legacy of love he cultivated. Also surviving are his dear siblings, Ginny Blackledge, Betsy Espy, and Rick Billo, each of whom held a special place in Ed’s heart.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jerry Herring, as well as his parents, Bruno and Katherine Billo. While their absence was always deeply felt, Ed carried their memories forward with his quiet strength and resilience.
The tapestry of Ed’s life was composed of countless cherished moments and memories—too many to count. He was the one who made others smile, who sparked laughter during difficult days, and who showed the meaning of hard work, devotion, and heartfelt love.
To honor Ed’s remarkable life, visitation will be held on July 23, 2026, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters. A memorial service will follow at 5:30 pm, with a gathering continuing until 8:00 pm at the same location.
Edward Louis Billo’s story does not end with his passing; it lives on in the hearts of those who loved him and in every memory punctuated by his laughter and warmth. Though he will be deeply missed, Ed leaves us the lasting gifts of his love, his humor, and the precious example of a life well lived.
