Elizabeth May Elliott, affectionately known as Betty, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, in Fenton, Missouri. Born on June 9, 1948, in Taylorville, Illinois, Betty was a woman whose gentle spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
Betty’s journey through life was one defined by dedication and a quiet strength. She devoted many years to the Rockwood School District, where she first made her mark as a school bus driver. This role was more than a job to Betty; it was a calling. She cherished the responsibility of safely transporting children to and from school, finding pride and joy in those daily journeys. Later, she continued her service in the school cafeteria, her warmth and attentiveness not only nourishing the children’s bodies but also their spirits.
Soft-spoken and good-hearted, Betty was a beacon of kindness who carried herself with a gentle grace. Her love extended beyond her family and friends to include her cat, Princess Orion, her companion of 20 years, and her beloved dog, Dustin, a cherished companion who brought joy to her later years. In her youth, she found solace and delight in fishing, a pastime that spoke to her patient and serene nature. More recently, she engaged her sharp mind with crossword puzzles, a quiet testament to her enduring curiosity and love of learning.
Betty’s pride in her work was profound, especially in the care she showed when driving the children—a responsibility she held close to her heart. Her thoughtful nature and selfless devotion were evident to all who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion and unwavering commitment.
She is survived by her loving children: Clifford "Al" Kallmbah, David Kallmbah, and Misty Simpson, whose lives she enriched with her steadfast love. Her sister, Lasandra Williams, remains a living thread to the beautiful tapestry of her family. Though Betty’s husband, James Elliott, along with her parents, Russell Robert Dillon and Evelyn May Duncan, have passed on before her, their memory lives on through her.
Elizabeth May Elliott’s life was one of quiet strength and heartfelt kindness. She touched so many with her gentle spirit and left a lasting impression on the community she served so faithfully. Remembered for her unwavering care, her thoughtful ways, and the simple joys she embraced, Betty’s legacy of love and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
Betty will be laid to rest in First Baptist Church of Wildwood Cemetery. Date and time are yet to be determined, please check back for updated service information.
