Listen to Obituary

Founta Van Fleet Jones, a nurturing soul whose heart embraced family and community alike, passed away in her home in O’Fallon, Missouri, on May 1, 2026. Born on September 1, 1971, in New Albany, Indiana, Founta’s life was a beautiful testament to love, kindness, and devotion.

A woman of remarkable determination and warmth, Founta was known for her servant’s heart and down-to-earth nature. With a big personality and meticulous attention to detail, she always made everything perfect for those she cherished most. Her love for her daughters—Samantha (Josh) Schneider, Danielle Jones, and Katherine (Jarrod) Ouzts—and her grandchildren, Theo Schneider, Claire Schneider, and Michael Ouzts, was boundless. She offered her calm presence and motherly advice during difficult moments, proving to be a steady beacon of support for her family.

Founta’s door was always open, extending welcome to strangers, neighborhood children, and all who crossed her path. She found joy in the simple things: gardening, couponing, and indulging in random treasures from Kohl’s, especially clearance hand towels, which she delighted in passing along to others. She was a keen learner, dedicating herself to mastering a Celiac diet to care lovingly for her husband. Her love of watching Blue Bloods on TV and delighting in the flutter of birds nearby reflected a soul attuned to quiet pleasures.

Her marriage to Robert Jones II, her beloved husband of 33 years, was one of her proudest accomplishments, a true partnership and the love of her life. Together, they nurtured a home filled with warmth and growth, reflected not only in their family but also in the towering sunflowers that soared above their house and the thriving tomato gardens that Founta so tenderly cared for.

Founta is also survived by her siblings Angie (Rob) Worstenholm and Travis (Terrie) Van Fleet, who shared in her journey through life. Though her parents, James and Nanetta "Jane" Van Fleet, and her brother Scott Van Fleet preceded her in death, their memories live on through the legacy Founta leaves behind.

Founta also would love to share with everyone her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her unwavering faith and love was always something that she prided herself on, instilling the same in her children.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate and honor Founta’s life at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on May 8, 2026. A funeral service will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and then a graveside service at Whispering Winds Cemetery in Winfield from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Those who knew her will remember a woman who embodied kindness, strength, and an unwavering dedication to those she loved.

Founta Van Fleet Jones leaves behind a legacy rich with love and tender memories. Her life was a garden of generosity and grace, that like her beloved sunflowers, stood tall in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed and forever treasured.
