Francis “Frank” A. Meyer passed away peacefully at his home in St. Charles, Missouri, on May 30, 2026. Born on November 8, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, Frank’s life journey was one of heartfelt commitment to family, community, and the causes that called him to action.
Born and raised in the close-knit community surrounding St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, Frank was deeply rooted in faith and fellowship. He cherished his involvement with the church, especially when volunteering at parish picnics and fish fries. His commitment to service led him to join the U.S. Army as a Cryptographer stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. Upon returning home, he became a Sheet Metal Worker, dedicating over fifty years to his craft through Local #36. Frank went on to become a well-respected Foreman and Union Organizer. In his distinguished career, Frank organized over 30 shops – a highly regarded record for his union. His dedication to labor rights, including safe working conditions and livable wages, was unwavering. This commitment to seeing working people thrive naturally carried through to his political activism. As a proud lifelong member of the Democratic Party, he fought for commonsense policies that allowed citizens a chance to fulfill the American Dream. He served his community as both Mayor and as a member of the Fire Board in Riverview Gardens – always striving to make a difference in the lives of those around him.
Even as his career flourished, Frank never ceased valuing education. At 56, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Labor Studies from the National Labor College in Silver Spring, Maryland. This achievement was a proud moment for him and demonstrated his commitment to lifelong learning. Frank’s passions extended beyond work and politics. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he found joy in the great outdoors. He also loved the thrill of betting on horses and football, as well as playing the stock market. Frank may be best known for his favorite pastime, euchre. He taught many friends and family how to play the game, and if you learned anything from his tutelage, you would know for certain that it’s a sin to trump your partner’s ace. Frank also enjoyed a lifetime of dates with his high school sweetheart, Eleanor, including frequent outings to shows at the MUNY and the Fox, and to restaurants where he enjoyed favorites like Tutto Mare.
Frank will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Eleanor; devoted son Jeffrey Meyer (Susan); caring daughters Suzanne Kissock (Tim), Kathleen Deetz (Carl), and Angela Corr (Zachary); and adoring grandchildren – Courtney, Nick, Abby, Mary, Katie, Lily, William, Emmy, Eleanor, Elliott, Sawyer, and Louisa – as well as great-grandchildren Lakelynn, Blakely, and Caiden. Frank is survived by his siblings Ray Meyer, Dee Stiffeld, Loretta Meyer, and Steve Meyer. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Lillian Meyer, as well as his siblings Fr. Tom, Alice, Carl, and Marie Meyer.
The community will come together to celebrate Frank’s life and legacy at a visitation held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri. Mass will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Saints Joachim & Ann Catholic Church, 4112 McClay Rd, St. Charles, Missouri. A luncheon will follow immediately after mass from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Frank’s life was a reflection of his larger-than-life personality – a blend of humor, wisdom, and generosity that endeared him to all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He gave freely of his time and talents, often imparting “words of wisdom” to family, friends, and strangers alike. As we remember him, we hold close the lessons he shared: to work hard, love fiercely, give generously, and know that life is not a dress rehearsal. Please join us in remembering and celebrating “The Big Guy”, Frank A. Meyer.
