Fred Myron Fansin

Fred Myron Fansin, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on July 2, 2024, at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida after briefly falling ill while on vacation with family. He was 87 years old. Fred was born June 2, 1937, in St Louis, MO, to Fred Fansin, who passed prior to his birth, and to Margarite Fansin who preceded him in death. Fred was raised by his mother, and paternal grandfather, Fred. 

On December 23, 1960, Fred married Joanne Wolf of St Louis MO. Fred and Joanne met while in high school and were lifelong friends, celebrating over 63 years of marriage. After they married, Fred served in the Army. He was stationed in Korea. Later, he made his career as a real estate appraiser, where he remained active until age 85. He enjoyed leading his boys in Boy Scouts, watching St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball, fishing, barbecues, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church – St. Louis.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gretchen Bartig. 

In addition to his wife, Joanne, Fred is survived by his daughter, Cathy Mifflin of St. Louis, MO, son Fred Fansin Jr. (Tina Walker) of St. Charles, MO, son David Fansin (Stephanie Mullis-Fansin) of Palm Bay, FL, 3 granddaughters, Ashley Mifflin of St. Charles, MO, Amanda Mifflin of St. Louis, MO, and Jocelyn Fansin (with whom Fred shares a birthday) of Palm Bay, FL. 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran, 11645 Benham Rd, Saint Louis, MO with Pastor Theodore Laesch officiating. Visitation will be from 9 – 11 a.m., with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Full Military Honors will immediately follow at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery. 

Fred was a very generous man and raised a good family. He always made sure everyone else was taken care of before himself. Fred’s motto was that life is too short, so be happy and “don’t sweat the small stuff.” 

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church– St. Louis. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, Saint Peters MO.
