Gary Lee Ansell, a devoted and cherished member of the St. Louis community, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, in Saint Charles, Missouri. Born on September 13, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, Gary’s life was marked by a steadfast dedication to his work and an enduring passion for the things that brought him joy.
A graduate of Riverview High School, Gary built a life centered around meaningful contributions and heartfelt connections. He was a dedicated worker at Francis Howell School District, where his commitment and perseverance were admired by colleagues and friends alike. Yet, beyond his professional achievements, Gary's spirit was beautifully complex and rich with the interests that made him uniquely himself.
Gary loved Jesus in a way that could be seen and felt by everyone who crossed his path. Week after week, he faithfully stood at the doors of the church, greeting each person with a warm smile, a listening ear, and a genuine care that reflected the heart of Christ. In a world often marked by hurry and superficiality, Gary offered presence and quiet compassion, making others feel seen, valued, and welcomed. For him, loving Jesus meant becoming like Him, serving with humility, honoring others, and extending grace without hesitation. He will be deeply missed, and his life leaves us with a simple, lasting invitation: to love others as he did, with the same faithful and Christlike heart.
Gary loved sports, especially if it had anything to do with Philadelphia, displaying a fervent enthusiasm that could light up the room. His inquisitive mind was captivated by history, a passion he carried into his leisure time with a deep appreciation for tales from the past. When not immersed in historical accounts, he found delight in watching shows about Bigfoot, ghost hunters, and aliens — a reflection of his playful curiosity and open heart to the mysteries of the world.
Surrounding Gary was a loving family who will forever treasure his memory. He is survived by his devoted wife, Shannan Ansell, and his beloved son, Gabriel Ansell-Bain, who carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. His sister, Sandy (Alvin) Cooper, along with his nephews, Travis Cooper and Austin Cooper, also remain close, bound by the enduring love and memories they shared. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Virginia Ansell, whose influence and guidance shaped the man he became.
Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Gary’s life on April 19, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, St. Peters, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St Peters, MO. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service from 12:00 PM until 12:30 PM. These moments offer a chance to honor a vibrant life well-lived and a soul deeply loved.
Gary Lee Ansell’s life was a mosaic of dedication, curiosity, and love—a testament to a man who embraced both the everyday and the extraordinary. He touched the hearts of those who knew him and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and inspiration that will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who loved him.
Colossians 3:23. "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men."
Gary wasn't just a hard worker - he worked with purpose. Some people work to get through the day. Gary worked as if someone greater was watching because he believed someone was. Every task - big or small - was more than just a job to him. It was an offering. When hands get tired... when days get long... when no one seems to notice... God notices. Scripture reminds us that our work is never wasted when it is done for Him. Gary understood something powerful: Work can be worshipped, not just in words. Not just on Sundays, but in the quiet, faithful consistency of showing up doing right, and honoring God through effort.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might..."
