Gary Allen Newsome

July 5, 1945 — June 10, 2025

Gary Allen Newsome, born on July 5, 1945, peacefully passed away on June 10, 2025, just 25 days shy of his 80th birthday. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, music, and community involvement that will not be forgotten by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A devoted husband to Mary A. Newsome (nee Roeper), Gary also leaves behind two loving daughters, Deena (Donnie) Gonz and Tammy Newsome, along with his cherished grandsons, Curtis Gonz and Dylan Gonz. He is further survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who all held a special place in his heart.

Throughout his life, Gary was an enthusiastic member of the Knights of Columbus at All Saints, showcasing his commitment to faith and service within the community. His love for music was a constant throughout his life; he sang and played guitar in several bands, most notably Gary & the Ghostriders, bringing joy and entertainment to many. A true entertainer at heart, he thrived on making people smile and laugh.

Gary had a passion for the outdoors, particularly camping, where he was frequently heard strumming his guitar and singing around the campfire, creating lasting memories with family and friends. His competitive spirit was evident in his enjoyment of annual horseshoe tournaments, as well as in friendly games of pool, chess, board games, and cards with his beloved grandsons and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Allen Newsome; mother, Lois E. Smith; step-father, Ronald Klosterich; sister, Mary E. Newsome-Smith; and brother, Paul Ross. Many other close relatives. Each of these figures contributed to shaping Gary’s life and character.

In honor of his vibrant life, friends and family are invited to join in the following services to celebrate Gary’s memory: Visitation on June 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri; a Mass on June 19, 2025, at 10:30 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, also in St. Peters; and a Graveside Service at St. Charles Memorial Gardens in Saint Charles, Missouri, at 12:00 PM on June 19, 2025.
