Emblem

Gene M. Levy, born on July 18, 1933, in New York, NY, passed away peacefully at his home in Chesterfield, Missouri, on June 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy filled with laughter, love, and an unyielding passion for life.

For many years, Gene traveled the world, working in International Marketing for Emerson, where his charming personality and unwavering dedication shone brightly. Gene was not just a talented professional; he was a remarkable human being whose warmth and humor could light up even the darkest of days. He was full of life, embodying qualities that made him everything good about the world. His family fondly remembers him as a man who was not only strong and tender but also deeply loving and passionate about all he did.

Gene's relationship with his beloved wife, Joung "Kim the personal care cleaner" Hwa Levy, was one marked by joy and unexpected moments of laughter. He would often sneak up on Kim while she was washing dishes, simply to hear her laugh. Playing harmless pranks became a cherished ritual for them, brightening their days in the most delightful ways. As a testament to his love, Gene crafted many items with his own hands, including a beautiful steam trunk for Kim. On her 40th birthday, he bought her a grand piano, a gift that symbolized the depth of his affection and surprise, making each of her birthdays a unique remembrance filled with joy.

Shared laughter was a cornerstone of their relationship, particularly when it came to gardening. Kim's love for plants met with Gene's well-meaning but misguided attempts at gardening, culminating in humorous moments when he mistakenly pulled out her lilac plant, convinced it was a weed. Such memories showcase the tender, playful dynamic they nurtured throughout their 32 years together.

Proudly, Gene considered his family to be his greatest accomplishment. He is survived by his cherished sons, Jeff (Ruth Anna) Levy, Steven (Paola) Levy, and Jay Kim, as well as his grandsons, David Levy and Ivan Ulloa – the joy and pride of his life. His loving extended family includes his niece Barbara (Mark) Fienman, Ashley Kang, Yeji Lee, and Rose Choi, and his nephews Bryan Levy, Andrew Levy, Sean Kang and Yong Lee.

Gene's commitment to his family reflected the values instilled in him by his parents, Louis and Gloria Levy, who predeceased him, along with his brother, Alan Levy, and sister, Eleanor Leiterman. Each of these relationships contributed to the loving spirit that Gene embodied, shaping him into the extraordinary man who will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

A funeral service to celebrate his remarkable life will be held on June 24, 2025, at Temple Emanuel in St. Louis, Missouri. The start time for this gathering of love and remembrance will be at 10:00 AM, concluding at 11:15 AM.

In remembering Gene M. Levy, let us cherish the laughter he so freely gave and the love he so passionately shared. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly, a testimony to a life well-lived and a spirit that will never fade.
