Gerald I. Painter, born on February 12, 1931, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026. Throughout his ninety-five years, Gerald’s presence was felt not only by his family but by an entire community that cherished his leadership, humor, and kindness.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Florence Painter, whose steadfast partnership was a cornerstone of his life. Together they built a loving family that reflects the values and warmth Gerald shared generously with those around him. He leaves behind his sons, Gerald L. Painter (Elizabeth), Bruce Painter (Lori), and Kevin Painter (Lee). The legacy of Gerald’s affection, character, and wisdom continues in his seven grandchildren: Bradley Painter (Jess), Michelle Painter, Tara DeMartini (Tony), Brendon Painter (Sylvia), Bryan Painter (Emily), Aileen Painter, and Rachel Thomason (Scotty). His memory will also be cherished by his six great-grandchildren: Clay Painter, Seth Painter, Felicity Painter, Dominic DeMartini, Morgan Painter, and Gideon Painter. Gerald’s sister, Ruth Mundy, along with many other family members and friends, also mourn his loss while honoring his lasting impact.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Alexander Painter; his mother, Ethel Viola Painter; his son, Darrell Painter; and his brother, Duane Painter. The memory of their bonds remained dear to him throughout his life.
Jerry's life was marked by an unwavering commitment to faith, family, and service. As a dedicated member and preacher of the Church of the Nazarene for forty-two years, he devoted himself to spiritual leadership, touching countless lives with his guidance and devotion. He was well known for his outgoing personality, never meeting a stranger and always greeting others with his characteristic quick wit. Those close to him fondly recall Gerald as the instigator of practical jokes, spreading laughter wherever he went.
In his earlier years, Jerry nurtured a love for the outdoors as a hunter, and demonstrated his practical skills as both a carpenter and woodworker. His craftsmanship was matched by his deep devotion—helping to lead many people to Christ and serving as a source of strength and comfort to those in his community. Above all, Gerald loved his family deeply, cherishing every moment spent together.
Gerald I. Painter’s legacy is built upon faith, dedication, love, and a richly lived life. He will be dearly missed, fondly remembered, and always celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
