Jerry Wells, age 79, entered into rest peacefully on October 15, 2026.
Born on Oct 1, 1947, in St. Louis, MO to Lee and Colleen Wells, Jerry was a man who spoke through his actions, leaving behind a legacy of quiet devotion, deep love for his family, and an unmistakable attention to the details of a life well-lived.
Jerry graduated from O'Fallon Technical School in 1966. Soon after graduation, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, remaining a proud and strong supporter of his nation throughout his life. He started working at Monsanto/Solutia in 1970 where he worked as a Chemical Processor for 33 years before retiring in 2003.
Though he was never a social butterfly, his love for his family was fierce and unmistakable. His actions always spoke louder than words, and his warmth was felt deeply by those closest to him. He found immense joy in the simple, active pleasures of life. An avid athlete at heart, he loved bowling and stayed on the lanes until he physically no longer could. In younger years, he could often be found playing competitive matches of racquetball and tennis. Later in life, some of his favorite moments were spent around the ping-pong table, engaging in lively recreational games with his beloved granddaughters and watching them in their extracurricular activities.
Beyond sports, he was a proud and knowledgeable coin collector, dedicating years to building his collection. He also shared his home and heart with many animals throughout his life, caring deeply for his many dogs, fish, and birds. That care extended right out into his own backyard; he was incredibly meticulous about his yard work and always making sure the neighborhood birds were well-fed. He took that same immense pride in his vehicles, keeping them perfectly shiny and spotless at all times.
He is survived by his spouse Fonda Wells; his children, Stacey Korte (Robert); his cherished granddaughters; Callie Korte, Kayla Korte, Danielle Wamhoff and sibling Randy Wells (Cheryl).
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Colleen Wells, brother Doug Wells (Paula), sons Jerry Wells Jr. and David Wamhoff.
