James Phillip Cahill

July 20, 1956 – August 1, 2025

James “Jim” Cahill passed away peacefully on August 1st in St. Charles, Missouri, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 69.

Born in Lubbock, Texas, Jim was the son of Alvin and Miriam Cahill and is now reunited with them—and his loyal dog, Gracie. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Cahill; his son, Josh Cahill; and his daughter, Erin Cahill, who will carry forward his strength, humor, and heart.

Jim spent over 30 years as a proud union carpenter, working hard with his hands and even harder for his family. But his true legacy was the way he loved—deeply, loyally, and with his whole heart.

He found joy in the simple things: a fishing pole in hand, the Cardinals or Blues on TV, a good song playing too loud, or a ride on the ATV with nowhere in particular to be. His friendships ran deep, and his stories ran long—but we loved every word.

He had a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor. And while he didn’t always hide his frustrations, there was a softness just beneath the surface—a twinkle in his eye that reminded us how deeply he cared. Jim had a voice that carried, stories that stayed with you, and a heart that held so much. He made us laugh, feel understood, and reminded us what it means to truly show up for the people you love.

He wasn’t just our husband, dad, or friend—he was our constant. Our calm in the storm. Our comic relief when things got too heavy. Our reminder that presence, loyalty, and love matter most.

We’ll miss him more than words can say. But his love, his voice, and his stories will stay with us always.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held in the weeks ahead. Until then, please keep him in your thoughts, raise a glass in his honor, and know that he is forever loved.
