James Michael Crabtree

July 27, 1944 — January 26, 2024

James Michael "Jim" Crabtree, age 79, of Cottleville, Missouri passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born in Henderson, Kentucky on July 27, 1944 to Charles and Mary Crabtree (nee Ferguson). He was married to Elizabeth Crabtree for 56 years.

Jim graduated from Murray State University with a degree in Industrial Education. He went on to teach industrial arts at Stanley Hall School in Evansville, Indiana. He was an accountant spanning 36 years and worked for General Tire, A.O. Smith Inland, Consolidated Aluminum, and Coin Acceptors Inc. Jim was also a cradle (life) member of the Episcopalian Church.

Around 1979, Jim became deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America organization and thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the leadership of his local scouting units. He also assisted Bette with Girl Scouts of America leadership.

In his retirement, Jim was a tenacious "do-it-yourself" enthusiast. He and his wife also acquired an RV and traveled all over the United States and thoroughly enjoyed the RV lifestyle. He also enjoyed genealogy research.

Jim is survived by his Wife, Elizabeth Crabtree; Son, William Jeffrey (Jennifer) Crabtree; Daughter, Nancy C. (Eric) Smith; Granddaughter, Katelynn E. Smith; Grandson, Joshua M. Smith; Sister, Margaret C. (Richard) Darby; Brother, Thomas R. Crabtree; and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Charles Lee Crabtree; Mother, Mary Louise Crabtree; Sister, Carol L. Peleuses; and Brother, Charles L. Crabtree.

A memorial service and celebration of life has been planned for Friday, February 16, 2024 at 12:00pm. It will be at St Peter's Episcopal Church located at 110 N Warson Rd, Ladue, MO 63124.
