James O. Eickhorst, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026. Born on February 28, 1941, James lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a genuine passion for learning and creativity.
Throughout his life, James was known for his keen intellect and his love for building things. He delighted in staying informed about current events and the news, demonstrating an enduring curiosity about the world around him. His enthusiasm for spending time on his computer and playing trivia brought joy to many moments shared with family and friends, embodying a spirit of engagement and enjoyment that enriched all who knew him.
James’s proudest accomplishment was his marriage to Patricia, whom he wed on June 18, 1971. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love and commitment, forming the foundation of a close-knit and loving family. James is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Eickhorst; his son, Joseph (Christine) Eickhorst; and two daughters, Genevieve (Thomas) Clark and Elizabeth Ann (Daniel) Lyons. His legacy continues through his six cherished grandchildren: Remington Clark, Chase Eickhorst, Kinley Eickhorst, Maximus Clark, Quinn Lyons, and Drew Lyons.
He also leaves behind a network of supportive family members including four sister-in-laws: Barbara (the late Thomas) Patterson, Mary Ellen (Dennis) Nugent, Jane (the late Daniel) Kehm, and JoAnn Cova; as well as a brother-in-law, Alan Haill. James’s life touched many others, including numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will remember him fondly.
James was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Deborah McDerby; father, Ormel Everett Eickhorst; brother, Anson (Janice) Eickhorst; and three sister-in-laws, Thersea Szwabo, Judith Lacy, and Margaret Haill, along with brother-in-law John Cova.
A visitation will be held on June 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Following the visitation, a memorial service will commence at 11:00 AM in the same location, allowing family and friends to honor and celebrate the life of James O. Eickhorst in a respectful and heartfelt manner.
James’s life was a beacon of kindness, intellectual curiosity, and steadfast love. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege to know him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who follow.
