Listen to Obituary

Having believed in and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, Jim entered his heavenly home on October 26, 2026.

Jim was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late James E. Hanrahan, Sr and Mary Elizabeth (Garner) Hanrahan. After graduating from Jennings High School and completing a year at Monmouth College he entered the apprenticeship program to become a meatcutter. When he completed that program, he enrolled at Southwest Baptist College where he met the love of his life, Judith Gardner. Jim and Judith were married in 1962 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Jim completed his Bachelor of Science degree from UMSL in 1968. He continued working as a meatcutter for 39 years before retiring in 2000 from Dierbergs. After retiring, Jim developed an interest in photography and picture framing and operated a small picture framing business for several years.

Jim was a current member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles. Although he was unable to attend the last few years, he enjoyed listening to the services online and loved the singing of praises to his Lord and Savior.

In addition to his wife, Judith, Jim is survived by the following: Son, Chris (Jenny) Hanrahan; Granddaughters, Katelyn Rose Hanrahan, Emily Christine (Jason) Jarrell; Brothers, Kenneth Charles (Mag) Hanrahan, John Richard (Mary Ellen) Hanrahan; cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
