Jim Martin was so loved and respected by his family and friends. He left us on May 3, in the peace and comfort of his family.
He was 81 years young, but did suffer a major stroke on the 27th of February of this year, followed by a series of 20 mini strokes or seizures with him being moved several times from the ER to the hospital and then back to Rehab, only to be informed the damage to his brain was not able to be repaired. With much regret, but realizing his wishes, we brought him home on Hospice. He passed looking out his front window at a budding new tree in the front of our home with Willie Nelson continually playing for him, and special music prepared for him from his son Steven. He leaves with a part of each and every one of us with him.
In his time and just up until 4 years ago, he was an avid golfer and was a member of Sunset Country Club for 39 years. He worked as a General Manager for J. D. Streett for just as many years, firstly as President of Streett Industries in Jefferson Barracks. He would rise just as early on weekends as Mon - Fri. to join his friends at Sunset for early tee offs and if possible, get in 27 holes......the last nine fondly called "The Emergency Nine"! Also, many trips to Florida, and regular trips to Palm Springs with his Sunset buddies where 36 holes a day was commonplace. I was told by more than one of them, that Jim had the best swing at the Club!! He made the game of golf look easy. He did pass the passion for the game and the love of Sunset to one of his favorite partners, his grandson Trenton.
We will celebrate his wonderful legacy on June 8th at Sunset Country Club, his home away from home, from 2:00 o'clock - 5:00 PM. 9555 So. Geyer Road. St. Louis, Mo. 63127
