James Thomas “Jimmy” Sheehan passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, in O’Fallon, Missouri, with his family by his side. Born on February 24, 1962, in St. Louis, Missouri, Jimmy’s journey was one filled with love, hard work, devotion to family, and the uncanny ability to bring laughter into any room.

Jimmy spent his formative years in St. Louis, attending McCluer High School where he graduated with the Class of 1980. Even as a young man, he possessed a magnetic charm, a gift for making friends, and an extraordinary capacity for kindness that would carry him through life and touch all those fortunate enough to know him.

A Sheehan through and through, James began his career as a truck driver at Sheehan Transportation, proudly following in the path set before him. His work ethic and unwavering commitment led him to Fed-Ex, where he was celebrated on many occasions for his exemplary safe driving record. Jimmy wore these awards with humility, attributing them to values ingrained in him by his beloved family and his deep pride in his Irish heritage.

Though hard work marked his professional life, it was his role within his family that gave him the greatest sense of accomplishment. Nothing brought him more pride than his family; he held them at the very center of his heart. He is survived by his brothers Michael (Katherine) and Dennis (Debbie) Sheehan, and sister Kathy (Ed) Albietz, who each witnessed daily his steadfast loyalty and infectious humor. His heart opened equally to his step-daughter Kelly (Scott) Englehardt and the next generation: his numerous nieces and nephews—Kaitlin Sheehan, Brendan (Katherine) Sheehan, Brian Sheehan, Patrick Sheehan, Robert (Tabitha) Shehan, Kelly (John) Gammon, Nick Sheehan, Ashley (Brent) Messner, Michael (Summer) Albietz, Abbie (Daniel) Bollwerk, Alissa (Gage) Freeman, and Alexa (Neil Sandweg) Albietz, and step-niece Misty (Eric) Groninger, and step-nephew Christopher Hoff—who each carry a piece of his wit, wisdom, and warmth.

His step-grandchildren, Lliam Gammon, Ainslee Englehardt, Elliott Englehardt, Thiea Burns, and Evelyn Gammon, will forever be enveloped by memories of a grandfather whose eyes lit up in their presence and who delighted in sharing laughter and love with them. He valued close friendships and cherished extended family, especially his cousins who were like siblings, Susan (Greg) Risinger, Butch (Suzanne) St. George, and Denise (Tim) Prinkey—all integral threads in the fabric of Jimmy’s life.

James’s life was marked by both joy and loss. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judith Sheehan, whose memory he carried with unwavering affection; his devoted parents, Bernard and Elizabeth Sheehan, who were his lifelong examples of strength and generosity.

Outside of work and family, Jimmy was a true sports enthusiast, a die-hard fan of both the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. He cherished every opportunity to watch or attend games, relishing the thrill of the crowd and the shared joy of victory. He also found fun and excitement at the casino and in scratch-off tickets, always willing to share a laugh over a near miss or a modest win.

The heart of Jimmy’s legacy was his boundless sense of humor. Even as illness challenged him, he chose levity—cracking jokes and bringing light to difficult days. His ability to find laughter in even the most daunting circumstances was a rare gift, one that lifted the spirits of his nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends when they needed it most. Though he grappled with his own health struggles, he consistently put others before himself, concerned more for their well-being than his own. It was the purest reflection of his generous spirit, the very essence of what made him, simply, the best.

Those who knew James Thomas Sheehan will remember not only his hearty laugh and spirited storytelling, but also his capacity for compassion, his unwavering loyalty, and his enduring pride in being a Sheehan—an honor he wore with utmost gratitude and joy. His presence leaves an indelible mark on all who loved him.

In the hearts of all who shared in his journey, Jimmy’s light will continue to shine—forever remembered, always missed, and never forgotten.
